You’re busy – right? No time for fussing over a complex skin care routine? Just want to know how to look good every day whilst working full time, partying every weekend, having drinks after work, juggling the family and preparing for ALL the extended family coming for a hot Celebratory lunch – yes, it’s your turn this year!
Here’s 10 super tips to make looking good easy
ONE. Cleanse – Keep it in the shower so its quick to grab. If you shower at the gym, buy another to keep in your gym bag. Even buy a third if your problem with time means you can’t be bothered leaning into the shower to grab it and cleanse before you fall into bed. Let’s be honest – we all have times like that! Actually, we have many clever clients who have an introductory kit, such as the Aspect Dr ABC kit or one of the Osmosis MD Kits, in their gym bag – it’s a good idea. Skin care for the party season needs to be easy.
TWO. This one follows on with cleansing at night – remove your makeup, including your eye makeup, Your skin needs to breathe and night time, when you are as calm as a baby, is the best time.
THREE. Use the antioxidant serums Vitamin A, Vitamin B and Vitamin C every day. Don’t forget. Again, keeping an extra set in your gym bag means that whilst your skin is warm, you’ll be helping the serums penetrate. At home, line them up on your bathroom sink, close to your toothbrush and you won’t forget. After all, you don’t forget to brush your teeth twice a day!
These serums will help to keep you looking bright, plumped and well hydrated. Your makeup will last longer and sit better, which – guess what? Saves you time! Skin care for the party season is definitely about having a good time, not just on preparation.
FOUR. Moisturise as your skin needs. Often during the warmer months, skins require a lighter moisturiser because of the increase in the air’s humidity. So don’t be afraid to switch, especially for your night cream. Keep this either beside your bed or beside those antioxidant serums by your bathroom sink.
FIVE. Keeping a hydrating spray mist in your handbag can be very helpful. Besides using it to set your makeup in the morning, you can spritz throughout the day to freshen up your makeup and rehydrate your skin. Saves time when joining the work crew for drinks at 5pm and then joining your favourite man for a romantic dinner afterwards! There is a spritz now for all skin types, so don’t think if your skin is oily that they are not for you – they are perfect!
SIX. UV Protection – Sunblock – every day. If you are outside at all, and we all are every day unless we live in a sealed bubble, we need more than most foundations and cc creams can give us. Having said this, the ColoreScience Even Up tinted hydrating makeup has an SPF of 50 and is waterproof for up to 80 minutes under running water – it’s good for your skin, is easy to apply and you’ve saved time!
If you are concerned about your skin, you must protect it from UV’s. It is well and truly proven that UVA, in particular, is THE single most damaging factor in our skins – early ageing and early poor skin health. A zinc-based or physical sun block is preferable, but use what you can, cover up and enjoy your hat hair! Your Vitamin D is more efficiently absorbed from the fattier areas of your body, so get those bits, namely your buttocks, thighs and tummy, out in the air!!
Keep your mainstay sunblock on that bathroom sink or your bedside table and then keep one in your handbag. Easily applied ones are found in powdered forms, or as sprays, which won’t upset your makeup. You don’t want sunburn included in your Skin care for the party season.
SEVEN. A gentle exfoliating weekly mask . Ha ha, I hear you say – when will I have time for that? You only need 20 min to cleanse, apply the mask, leave it on, rinse it all and apply your Vitamin B and C serums, and then moisturise before you fall into bed. One night per week, allow yourself this time. You can always:
- Enjoy a bath with a mask – its a good time to exfoliate ready for your Three Warriors sunless tan application.
- Read to the children – they’ll love the sticky kiss good night
- Put your feet up with a Netflix movie
- Come home early, finish your papers with your mask – only to do if you are desperate, please!
- Wear it at the gym, whilst walking the dog – ideas are endless!
In other words – find time for you! Skin care for the party season needs to be relaxing sometimes too!
EIGHT. To finish off your day and keep you from looking sleepy and tired, keep an eye cream beside your bed. As you turn off the light, grab it and pat it under your eyes. Any puffiness and dark circles will be reduced when you wake – you’ll love it in the morning!
NINE. A little trick for your lines – try some overnight wrinkle reducing pads. Wrinkles Schminkles silicone pads are made for all the areas of our face, décolletage and backs of hands to reduce the deeper lines while we sleep. Takes 30 seconds to apply them and around 1 minute to remove, rinse and store in the morning.
TEN. Fake tan. A little bit of colour, as wrong as it is in these days of skin cancer threats, does make most of us feel healthy. Most sunless tanning products contain a lot of chemical nasties, so if you are going to put aside this time, ensure you are applying a product that is pretty darn good for you, as well as close to fool-proof for an even, olive colour.
Lastly, and most significantly skin-related: enjoy yourself, laugh and love a lot and remember to breathe!
