We’re so grateful for vitamin C, because the discovery of this little yet powerful gem makes a HUGE difference to your skin. It improves the way your skin deals with UV, and improves past mis-demeanours. What’s not to love! The only downfall? We have HEAPS of vitamin C options… with this in mind, we’ve created these vitamin C product reviews to give you an insight into a few different options.
Meg’s Vitamin C Product Reviews
“There are a few vitamin C serums that I love, SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic being one of them – and this one certainly gets lots of publicity as one of the best vitamin C serums around. And just in case you’re wondering what Ferulic is and why it is combined with a lot of vitamin C serums, Ferulic Acid is simply an antioxidant that helps boost the efficacy of other antioxidants.
But for this weeks review, I am not recommending that one, although it is brilliant – I am going to recommend my all time favourite vitamin C serum:
Société Triple C Vitamin Therapy
Why do I love this one so much? Firstly, I love the texture. It feels like a super thin oil, so it has that lovely hydrating feel to it. I also love the colour and packaging – it just looks super fresh and happy! But mostly, I love the results.
This c serum works so well and the results I have noticed are:
- Brighter skin
- A more even tone and texture
- Less pigmentation
This particular serum uses three types of vitamin C. Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Ascorbyl Glucoside, and Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate are the three stars of the show in the specially formulated Societe Triple C Serum in Australia. Not only does each type of vitamin C provide powerful effects on its own, but together they form a potent synergistic anti-ageing compound. In addition, the triple threat also improves the overall look of the skin giving your skin a more youthful and healthier glow.
As well as antioxidant protection, it also contains special peptides that penetrate deep beneath the skin’s surface to smooth fine lines and wrinkles while improving natural collagen production. Innovative apple stem cells are also in this formula, and provide a unique approach to combat the obvious signs of ageing.
I will admit that this one is quite expensive, (although not as much as SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic), but if you are someone who really wants to invest in their skin, this is a brilliant choice.
It can be used under the eye area too, so if you want to use it as an eye serum too, it is safe to do so.
Societe is not as well known as the other brands we stock, which is such a shame because their products are incredible. They make one of my favourite hyaluronic acid serums (Société Skin Hydration Complex) and if you have deep cystic acne, their acne products are simply amazing (Société Clear Skin Travel Kit). So if you are looking for a change, please check out the Société range – you won’t be disappointed.”

Julie’s Vitamin C Product Reviews
“For me I would say vitamin C is probably the most important of the actives in skincare. It’s going to help repair past sins, which I have many, and prevent further sins… really, I try very hard. Vitamin C helps to activate the other vitamins needed for skin health, repairs sun damage and actually slows sunburn cell formation while you are out and about. It brightens, prevents pigment formation, plus stimulates collagen and elastin production, so I’d be silly (and you would be too!) not to include it in my routine… your routine.
I am using a couple of different vitamin C products right now, the SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF Serum and the CosMedix Brilliancy Facial Oil. Did you know the guy who initially established the parameters for effective vitamin C delivery into the skin was the founder of SkinCeuticals?, thanks Doctor Pinnell!! Anyway, loving SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF I love the smell, the texture and of course the results! Even getting accustomed to the little dropper. Speaking of droppers, the CosMedix Brilliancy Facial Oil dropper has a cool pumping mechanism on the lid, very cute and very easy to use. I apply this one am and pm, but as it’s an oil, it feels a bit slick if I use it on its own in the morning, so instead I will add just a drop to my moisturiser or SPF to add a bit of a glow, without being too shiny. If I wasn’t so lazy I would have tried it out by now with my Gua Sha. I think it would be absolutely the perfect product to use with it. You would not only be creating the best surface for the easy gliding of the Gua Sha, but infusing hydration and antioxidants too.
If you love a facial oil, you will adore CosMedix Brilliancy Facial Oil.”

Phillipa’s Vitamin C Product Review
“I’ve just been away on holidays recently, and I’m in Tassie, so that doesn’t mean hot weather and sunshine… it means rain and mud (well, that was the whole East Coast unfortunately… big hugs to all those affected). The problem I have with holidays is that I loose the time for my normal routine. In the mornings, I’m typically turned into the kids slave, until they’re on their bikes and have forgotten me anyway… by then it’s time for a cuppa and recharge.
When I’m camping I pair back my skincare routine to the basics, while still trying to care for my skin.
Medik8 Daily Radiance vitamin C cream is my go-to morning saviour! After a quick splash and rub with Medik8 Calmwise Cleanser (this is a foaming cleanser and even comes in a little travel/trial size), I pop on Daily Radiance. That’s my essential 3 morning steps covered! Now, unfortunately following our trip my youngest got sick and then I did. I was pretty much up to my eyeballs in muddy washing while feeling like… I’ll let you fill the blanks. With this in mind I continued the Daily Radiance, which made life simple and quick while I was dog-tired and just pushing through. While we have lots of amazing serums, and I’ve been trialling Phloretin CF (yes, I loved it – of course!), I actually think it’s important to keep expectations and goals are realistic.
If you’re busy, sick or maybe just not a morning person, then Daily Radiance takes the brain-power out of your routine while still giving you the essentials.
If you’re wondering where to start with vitamin C, I actually recommend Aspect Dr Active C! This feels and smells great while doing wonders for you skin and not costing too much… just a sneaky little tip from me.”

Nidia’s Vitamin C Review
“My Vitamin C serum of choice is one of my all-time favourites. Osmosis MD Catalyst AC-11 DNA Repair Serum is a powerhouse. The most immediately visible change in my skin after starting this serum was a drastic reduction in pigmentation. Having darker skin I had a lot of pigmentation from sun exposure, but Catalyst completely evened out my skin tone. The unique formula, containing minerals, Vitamin C and amino acids, is also a star at increasing elasticity and collagen production, repairing scar tissue and reducing fine lines. So many benefits in one bottle!
My other favourite Vitamin C product is Medik8 C-Tetra Eye serum, which has effectively gotten rid of my dark circles and brightened up the skin under my eyes. I apply this serum every morning, before sun protection. It soaks in quickly and the addition of Vitamin E leaves my under-eye skin feeling hydrated and soft.”

Zoe’s Vitamin C Review
“We all know Vitamin C is a powerhouse for the skin, a true protector thanks to its free radical fighting abilities and it’s brightening capabilities. Osmosis Catalyst AC-11 DNA Repair Serum (I know… it’s a mouthful!) is the Osmosis Vitamin C, patented and clinically proven to activate the repair mechanisms of our own cells that assist in reversing the ageing process of the skin.
I personally love using this serum in conjunction with Osmosis MD Rescue, it’s great because you can cocktail these serums together, this helps with the application of the Catalyst AC-11, as it is a thick brown serum that can become tacky when rubbing into the skin. If you have pale skin like myself, you may choose to use this serum of a night, as it may leave a slight golden residue, however it can also look like a beautiful bronzed glow to the skin!
How I cocktail my serums:
After I cleanse, I mix together half a pump of each Catalyst and Rescue, with two sprays of my Osmosis Infuse Nutrient Activating Mist, and massage into my skin. I use this Activating Mist to help support serum application, but it is also filled with fulvic and humic minerals that help support the work of all the active ingredients in both Catalyst and Rescue.
What are the key ingredients in Catalyst AC-11?
- Uncaria Tomentosa (Cats Claw) Extract – promotes DNA Repair and healing whilst decreasing inflammation.
- L-Ascorbic Acid – a water soluble form of Vitamin C that acts as a powerful antioxidant, strengthens collagen, brightens skin and provides an anti-wrinkle effect. Skin is smoother in texture, wounds are healed, and scarring is both prevented and brightened when already in place.
- Ketogltaric Acid – helps mind proteins to repair DNA and create collagen.
- Zinc Finger Technology – aids in repair of damaged DNA by turning on the repair gene, to cut out any damage.
I started using this particular serum to help with my PIHP (post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation) from previous breakouts. Although, there are many benefits to using Catalyst AC-11, including reduced visibility of capillaries, increased elasticity, lightening of hyperpigmentation by stimulating collagen, and even 15% tightening of the eyelids. I think this Serum speaks for itself, however I can absolutely recommend! Remember… a little goes a long way!”
