When you’re searching for anti-ageing options, your first port of call needs to be Vitamin A. This magic ingredient helps your skin to function better which in turn helps your skin to stay younger – and have less “defects” that occur with age.Yes, we’re talking wrinkles, inflammation and UV damage, dead skin, acne and pigmentation as just a few. As well as this Vitamin A Product Review (Your new best friend!) we also have a great article about Vitamin A that helps you work out the what, why and which one. Lastly, we’ve created a quick summary of our articles to jump start your learning…
UV protection – Vitamin A reduces the inflammation caused by UV damage and also inhibits some of the age related changes that occur due to UV radiation.
Cell renewal – Vitamin A stimulates the turnover of cells, encouraging better skin function. It also acts as a gentle exfoliator, removing the surface build up of dead cells, revealing brighter, more even toned and smoother skin.
Anti-wrinkles – Vitamin A increases the number of cells that produce collagen in your skin, stimulating them to produce more collagen and inhibiting the enzymes that breakdown our collagen.
It’s a three-way attack on anti-ageing!
We understand there’s such a big range to choose from, and you may not be sure where to start. As well as reading our articles, we’ve reviewed which ones we prefer and why… hopefully this helps you on your anti-ageing journey! If you’re ready to jump in and start shopping now, check out our Vitamin A products. We recommend checking out Medik8‘s range as it’s very comprehensive, starting out gentle and building up to super-strength.
Meg’s Vitamin A Product Review
“Anyone over the age of 30 should be using a Vitamin A (unless you are pregnant or breastfeeding). Vitamin A, or Retinol, resurfaces our skin and stimulates cell turnover, meaning that with consistent use, we are left with glowing skin free from dead skin buildup. Vitamin A also helps diminish fine lines and wrinkles.
But not all vitamin A’s are suited to everyone. Older skins can tolerate a stronger percentage vitamin A, while younger skins are better suited to a lower percentage, or something designed for a more sensitive skin, such as Osmosis MD Calm.
I use CosMedix Refine which not only contains Vitamin A (retinol) bus also contains Hydroxy Acids (HA’s). The combination of HA’s means that my skin is gently exfoliated, reducing the appearance of wrinkles as well as smoothing any other imperfections while keeping moisture in.
I love how soft it makes my skin feel and I love that my skin always feels exfoliated.
I use this every single night and wouldn’t be without it!”

Julie’s Vitamin A Product Review
“I didn’t begin using a Vitamin A serum until mid last year, when it was prescribed to me by my gorgeous work colleagues. Of course now, I wish I had began years ago. Hindsight is a wonderful thing… no, actually, it’s an annoying thing, frustrates the hell out of you, who coined that phrase?…grrr. But putting all the frustrations and “if only’s” aside, I’m pretty darn happy I use it now. I am unsure why I never used an A Serum previously. I think it was the actual word Retinol that had a negative subliminal effect. Maybe I had read of detrimental outcomes using Retinol.
These days Vitamin A is very safe to use, and in some forms, even while pregnant.
I began my A journey with Osmosis MD Calm. My skin adapted really well, and it was quite literally within three to four weeks, that I could see a big difference in texture. As it improved over the months, I decided to go to the next level in the Osmosis MD A’s and try Osmosis MD Correct. I loved this too, and I think it helped a little more with my pigmentation. After a few months, just recently, I became very confident and wanted to go to another level. So, I asked Meg (Queen of all things skin) her opinion, and she said pet, she said love, she said darl’, go for it! So I began to use the level 4 Osmosis MD Renew. As yet, I haven’t noticed any significant changes to my skin, but it has only been a couple of weeks. I always use it in conjunction with other serums, and using a frequency enhanced spray like Osmosis MD Boost is like adding fuel to the flame of progress, you HAVE to try it with your A’s, or any serums for that matter, it makes so much difference.
I think if I was told I could only use one serum for the rest of my life it would be an Osmosis MD Vitamin A serum. Especially at 103, or am I 102?, I shall have to check recent reviews. The memory isn’t what it used to be A?”

Phillipa’s Vitamin A Product Review
“My skin goes red very easily and doesn’t tolerate a strong Vitamin A at the moment. With this in mind I choose gentle yet effective products.
I have started by using Osmosis MD Calm and recently I’ve been trying CosMedix Serum 16. Both are very gentle and a great way to start on your Vitamin A journey. Recently life has been so busy that my skin care routine has gone out the window. My partner has been working long hours and so I’ve been with the kids mostly on my own. It means any kind of extra personal care routines for myself in the evenings have temporarily stopped. Mostly because the kids try to copy everything I do. While I’ll let them have a dab of moisturiser, I don’t want them playing with my Serums!!!
The scary thing is that I can see it. In my face. My skin isn’t as soft and I can see the wrinkles when I wake in the morning. If I can suggest anything, it’s that you won’t regret trying them… and be warned, you might end up hooked! ”
