Pregnancy and Skincare

Pregnancy can be a wonderful, yet challenging time, and finding and maintaining a skincare routine that nurtures the skin can be really tricky. There is so much information out there now about the possible negative effects of topical skin treatments on an unborn baby, so we have taken the challenge out of it by creating our Mumma Kits. A bespoke collection crafted with care to address the unique skin care needs of pregnancy, ensuring you don’t have to compromise your skincare game while expecting.

We understand that pregnancy can bring about changes, including hormonal shifts that may lead to dry skin. Our Mumma Kits feature hydrating formulations to combat this common concern, ensuring that your skin remains nourished, supple, and glowing throughout this remarkable journey. This includes hyaluronic acid, a hydrating powerhouse renowned for its ability to attract and retain moisture in the skin, leaving it plump, smooth, and well-hydrated.

Melasma, often referred to as the “mask of pregnancy,” is another common issue for expectant mothers. Our Mumma Kits address this by incorporating ingredients that specifically target pigmentation concerns, such as vitamin B and C. By focusing on natural and safe solutions, these kits help in managing melasma without compromising the health of your skin or the baby.

Retinoids during pregnancy

During pregnancy, it’s crucial to avoid harsh ingredients and toxic chemicals that could potentially harm the developing baby. Our Mumma Kits prioritise safety without sacrificing efficacy. Our thoughtfully curated sets exclude harsh ingredients and steer clear of retinoids and other ingredients that may pose risks during pregnancy.

Retinoids (vitamin A) have been shown to harm your unborn baby in large quantities. If you don’t want to stop your retinoids, we recommend bakuchiol as a safer and effective alternative, providing the same skin-renewing benefits without any concerns. It’s a plant-derived compound that supports collagen production, reduces fine lines, and promotes an overall youthful complexion—all without the worry of harmful effects on the baby. We don’t include it in our kits though, as not all women are on retinoids prior to pregnancy, and your skin becomes more sensitive during this time.

Our Mumma Kits make the perfect baby shower gift. While the baby gets all the presents, what about the mum, the one making this tiny human? Give the gift of self-care with Our Mumma Kits.
