New Technology in Skin Care

At the Skin Care Clinic, we love seeing our clients achieving the results they want. The products that we use are cosmeceutical, meaning that they have a therapeutic benefit and are designed to promote change on a cellular level. Over the years there have been many advancements within technology in skin care and many different theories as to how to promote change within our cells.

New Technology In Skin Care

So firstly, how do these special ingredients break through the protective and waterproof barrier of our skin to penetrate the cells and effect change? The answer is via Liposomal delivery systems.

We have hundreds of trillions of cells that make up every single part of our body. Each cell is covered in a phospholipid bilayer that makes up the majority of the cell membrane. This cell membrane acts as a gateway”, allowing only certain molecules to pass through. Ingredients within the skin care ranges that we stock are coated in liposomes and can be recognised by the cell membrane. This allows ingredients to get inside the cell to promote change where it is needed.

So, what can these ingredients do once they are inside the cell? Below is a list of the new (and some old) technologies that have taken skin care to the next level.

The Latest Technology in Skin Care:

Spin TrapCosMedix Emulsion

Spin Trap is a Nobel prize-winning antioxidant compound that has been around within the skin care industry for quite sometime. It is different to any type of normal antioxidant as it not only neutralises free radicals, it is also able to convert them into cellular energy. This means it is particularly significant in skin rejuvenation and repair, as fighting free radical damage results in a reduction in premature ageing and, therefore, fine lines and wrinkles.

You can find Spin Trap in:
– an anti-ageing moisturiser CosMedix Emulsion
– an antioxidant serum CosMedix Affirm
– an eye serum CosMedix Opti Crystals

Give one a go and make anti-ageing easier for you and your skin!

Zinc Finger Technology/DNA Repair

Zinc fingers are found in all cells of our body and work to repair DNA damage that can occur from free radicals. DNA damage causes cell mutations, which creates pigmentation, actinic keratosis, capillary damage, premature ageing and many other skin conditions. Osmosis has patented Zinc Finger technology that provides the precursors of zinc fingers to allow the body to kick-start its own healing system and either turn on or off a particular gene. Benefits include pigment control and normalisation, rebuilding collagen, prevention of scarring and healing broken capillaries. Zinc Finger technology can be found in Osmosis MD Catalyst AC-11.

What is AC-11?

Osmosis MD Catalyst AC 11AC-11 is a specialised extract of Cat’s Claw and is one of Osmosis MD’s patented compounds, used for DNA repair technology. AC-11 belongs to a group of compounds known as Carboxy Alky Esters, which are known to have significant anti-inflammatory properties, enhance the immune system and therapeutically repair DNA damage. The way these Carboxy Alky Esters are extracted from Cat’s Claw makes them very bioavailable within the body and readily utilised within the cells. AC-11 promotes wound healing and reduces scarring and pigmentation. It can be found in Osmosis MD Catalyst AC-11 and, for more sensitive skins, in Osmosis MD Catalyst Plus.

This product is the bees knees for pigmentation and sun-damage!

Growth Factors, Peptides and Stem Cell Technology

These three marvellous ingredients are similar in what they do in your skin and yet, different in how they do it. We have grouped them together as Growth Factors – just for simplicity of understanding for you.

Growth Factors are proteins that regulate cellular growth, proliferation and differentiation. They play a crucial role in the maintenance of healthy skin structure and function. Their purpose is to stimulate pathways that promote skin tissue repair and regeneration. As well as this, Growth Factors promote the formation of collagen and elastin fibres in the skin. As we age, the body is programmed to decrease the rate and amount of cell proliferation and differentiation. The amount of collagen in our skin also decreases over time. Applying Growth Factors topically to the skin acts as a messenger’; they can send and receive messages to and from our cells to promote cellular division and proliferation. This promotes the production of collagen and elastin, as well as regeneration and repairing processes in the skin. Our fave Growth Factor product for dehydrated, impaired skin is Osmosis MD StemFactor.

For all skin concerns, Osmosis MD Rescue Serum is “magic juice” – really! It is a DNA repair serum, which we’ll talk about in an upcoming post, but just tuck that info away in the back of your head for now – it’s truly good!!

So you’ve got the lowdown on a few incredibly effective products and their specialist ingredients. We are SO lucky to live in a time when science and technology are doing their best for us and our skins – let’s enjoy it!
