They’re also great for coloured hair as they don’t over-strip your hair of essential moisture.

“I had recently asked Julie, who had spent many years working in hair salons, to try out these Honua hair care bars and give me her honest opinion. I think that she was probably a little sceptical, as Julie is what you could call a shampoo snob (no offence Jules!), but having had access to all the best hair care brands in the land, Julie knows what’s what when it comes to hair care, and with her thick and lustrous locks, she’s pretty down with what she knows will tame her mane. BUT to my delight (and to her shock), she told me ‘Meg, we’ve gotta order these bars – they’re incredible’. So that is what we did. I am sure that Julie will write her own review, but that is the background of how they came to sit on our shelves at The Skin Care Clinic.
I initially grabbed a couple to use for travel. Hotel shampoos always knot my hair and leave it stripped and frizzy. So rather than buying small ones to take with me, I thought the Honua Bars would be a good idea, and they are!
My hair is thin, and being blonde requires regular washing or it can look greasy. To my delight, the bars leave my hair feeling more voluminous and less prone to knots. It Looks shiny and healthy and the scent is so soft and lovely. The best part is that I can now go a couple of days before I wash my hair again. They are so great to travel with, just pop them in a soap container. I really am amazed at how good they are for my hair. I always used Kerastase products, and while I love that brand, it is expensive and I honestly feel that my hair is in better condition since using Honua . Another benefit is how long they last. I opened a new one at the beginning of December and it still looks almost new. I am completely converted.”

“I’m always trying to reduce my chemical and environmental impact in my daily life. While I was travelling around Australia, using the Honua Bars seemed the perfect option. Light and easy to travel with, while keeping my family clean. I was far more impressed than I expected, to be honest. I’ve tried shampoo and conditioner bars before, but always ended up with greasy and limp hair.
The Honua shampoo bar lathered beautifully with a light and fresh fragrance. Even the long and messy hair of my daughter was better for this shampoo bar. Leaving it easily clean and fresh without being overly dry or oily. The conditioner bar was a bit more difficult as it doesn’t lather in the same way (no surprise) so you really need to stroke it through your locks. It was good in my hair and even my daughters long locks, but my eldest daughters hair is very thick and it took a bit more effort to get the conditioner through it.
Overall I’ve used it for over 6 months now and continue to consider it wonderful, and I’m in no hurry to change from my Honua haircare.”

“I have hair that is really long and thick. I swim most days and it gets really knotty and it’s such a hassle to have to wash it all the time but that is the only way to get the knots out. Before, I only liked to use Pantene shampoo and the Pantene 3 minute miracle conditioner because that is the only one that could get the knots out. Mum gave me the Honua shampoo and conditioner bars to try and I didn’t think that they would work but they actually did. The shampoo is really good because it gets the knots out and leaves my hair very soft. The conditioner is good too, but I have to use a fair bit of it because I have a lot of hair. I like that they last for ages and that there is no packaging which is better for the environment. These are really good.

“I recently purchased the Honua Shampoo and Conditioner Bars eager to try something different other than my usual brands, and hopeful it might give a better result for my very sensitive scalp, due to a bad reaction at a salon some years ago.
Opening the boxes (pink for shampoo and cream coloured for conditioner). I was pleasantly surprised with a lovely fragrance. Hoping for a good result the shampoo bar lathered up quickly and beautifully. As I usually do, I washed twice and my scalp felt squeaky clean. The conditioner bar also lathered up nicely and I was able to run my fingers through my hair without any tangles. It rinsed out nicely leaving my hair smooth and smelling fresh, as it was, still after using my hairdryer. I’ve had no negative reaction on my scalp.
I thought that both shampoo and conditioner were a lovely product and I will certainly purchase again when next I need to visit the clinic. A great product.”
