Four product varieties to help you age gracefully:
Of course you need your cleanser as it is pointless adding a serum or cream to your face if it is not clean, but after you have patted dry – if you are concerned about having a healthy skin which can therefore age well, or even more slowly than your friends or twin sister here are three items you must have on your bathroom shelf.
Hyaluronic Serum –
Almost an instant wrinkle reducer – and feels gorgeous on the skin. Use as a serum under your moisturiser or as a moisturiser you cover with your sun block. Ideally use in the morning, however can be enjoyed day or night. It is found in many of our products, however the Aspect Dr Hyaluronic serum is definitely a favourite for many.
A key ingredient to plumping out fine lines and wrinkles in the skin. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body and is a well-known humectant; this means that it is able to attract and bind water to itself. When applied topically to the skin, it helps to keep cells hydrated and therefore keeps the skin plump and healthy.
Vitamin A serums
A must-have product for anyone that wants to either treat or prevent premature skin ageing. A good Vitamin A serum will help with skin cell turnover (a function that starts to slow down as we age), whilst encouraging uniform arrangement of the cells in our epidermis, leading to smoother and clearer skin. Vitamin A also stimulates certain cells (fibroblasts) to produce more collagen in the dermis helping to keep our skin tight and plump, therefore, less wrinkles! Vitamin A promotes the production of healthy cells, including immune cells within our skin.
Vitamin A comes in many forms. We recommend Retinaldehyde as it requires less assistance by other skin cells to do its thing and so rarely is an irritant to even the most sensitive of skins. The Osmosis MD Vitamin A serums all are based on Retinaldehyde, with Calm being their level 1 serum as is the CosMedix Serum 16 both which are particularly good for sensitive skins. Generally Vitamin A serums are used at night and, to make them worthwhile please use a good quality sunblock every day – otherwise really what is the point?
Growth Factors
Over 40? You need these! Fairly new on the skin care block they are the “bees knees” now in skin care! They repair your DNA! Combine these with your Vitamin A serums and antioxidants you’ll almost be able to watch your skin quality improve.
Growth factors are naturally occurring substances that are required in the body to stimulate cellular growth, proliferation and healing. They stimulate the production of new cells that build plumping collagen and elastin fibres in the skin. They also promote healing in the skin by boosting immune function, removing scar tissue and aiding in wound repair. Growth factors can be used for a mature skin to repair and rebuild skin tissue that has developed fine lines and wrinkles. Growth factors can also be used for a younger skin to prevent the breakdown of collagen fibres, as well as promote wound healing in areas where healing process might be starting to slow down.
Our amazing Growth factor serums include the Osmosis MD Rescue serum, Stemfactor, the Catalyst serums and the Aspect SMC moisturiser. Use either morning or evening – but don’t forget your daily sunblock!
Wrinkle Schminkles
A fun, quick fix which works – as you sleep!
Revolutionary, 100% Medical Grade Silicone Pads for the face, neck and chest, that smooth away your wrinkles overnight. Choose from 8 different smoothing pads, for females and males, that work by allowing the skin to stay smooth overnight without creating those wrinkle-causing creases. For years, Silicone pads have been used within the Medical industry to prevent and reduce the appearance of scars. Wrinkles Schminkles’ products work similarly by replicating the top layer of the epidermis and, therefore, reducing water loss within the skin. As we know, hydration is one of the key factors that keeps our skin plump and healthy. By leaving the silicone pads on overnight, blood flow is stimulated to the area, which can help to stimulate collagen production in the skin, smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.
