Meg’s Things That Calm Review

Product Review Meg

I try to give myself some sort of treatment at least once a month, but you would be surprised to know that I can be very lazy with my skin, so I often just give myself a lactic peel as it is super quick and the results are excellent.  Lactic peels are great for helping with inflammation, as well as helping to remove the top layer of the skin, leaving you with a more youthful appearance.  They are suitable for fragile skin too, but for this skin type I would recommend the Societe 15% Lactic.  It is lovely and gentle, and the whole Societe procedure is very relaxing and enjoyable.

It is the Societe Peels that got me into the product that I am going to review today, as it is what you put on afterwards to cool and soothe the skin.  I love it so much that I have brought it home to use when I feel like my skin needs a little extra TLC…  So what is it?

Societe Calming Relief Balm

This thick cream helps to reduce the appearance of problematic skin conditions, including redness, itching & hyper-sensitivity.

Benefits:

  • Helps reduce the appearance of redness
  • Contains ingredients to help calm inflammation
  • Helps with skin irritation
  • Soothes tenderness and sensitivity
  • Aids in eliminating dryness and flakiness

What it feels like:

This is what I love about this cream – the texture.  It is thick and creamy, but doesn’t feel greasy.  You can wear it in the daytime under makeup if you like, but I prefer to slather it on at night and let it work its magic while I sleep.

Who would benefit from this balm:

I often recommend this for those with either Rosacea, highly sensitive skin, flaky skin and even those who have a little bit of eczema or psoriasis, as it is a fantastic hydrator and contains no perfumes that will further irritate.  I would choose this over anything else after a procedure in-clinic as I am yet to see anyone react to it.

The Verdict:

The Societe Calming Relief Balm gets a 10 out of 10 from me!  I have just relocated to a hot climate and have packed a few tubs of it because it’s going to be fantastic to apply after being out in the sun (I did also pack plenty of the new Societe Cover Shield SPF too!).

Julie’s Things That Calm Review

Product Review Julie

I’m a bit like a peacock when it comes to having tough skin that never gets over sensitised, look at me, I have skin that cannot be irritated! Well didn’t I come down with a thud and feathers flying only just recently. I have no idea whether it was a reaction to a product, although it’s really the only explanation. Unfortunately I don’t know which one it was, I was using quite a combination (maybe that was the problem). Lately I have really been concentrating on my neck, I don’t like the way it is looking. I think it’s giving in to gravity, falling apart. Looking like it should be flipped over in a frying pan then smothered in lemon juice and sugar. I felt like I was scrambling, trying different combinations of serums, moisturisers and masks every night, I had no routine.

I awoke one morning and the skin on my neck felt really itchy and sore. When I looked in the mirror it was red and blotchy, more uneven than usual, I have a lot of pigmentation on my neck which developed when I began going through menopause. Then it became a little itchy.

My face was fine, so it was really weird. I was working from home for a few days straight, so I couldn’t show the girls at work in person, to ask their opinion.

I decided to lay off any products on my neck, even a simple moisturiser was stinging. Apparently the skin on your neck is quite different to the skin on your face, so I’m going to start treating it very differently. But what to do in the meantime to my irritable neck?

I remembered I had some Aspect Dr Soothing Gel from IPL treatments I had ages ago, and quickly applied. If felt instantly better in terms of heat and itchiness. I lathered this on every night for a few nights, and it eventually subsided. It’s still not quite back to normal, feeling rather dry, so I’m applying  CosMedix Rescue Balm of an evening, which I love, and Aspect Dr Hydra Shield for sun protection during the day.

Eventually I’ll start looking at some products specifically for the neck. If you are like me, I always thought that type of marketing was a bit of a ruse, but apparently not! I’ve always wanted to try our PCA Skin Perfecting Neck and Décolleté, if I do, I will let you know what I think.

What was this review about?… oh yeah calming products, not my neck.

Well I’d definitely recommend Aspect Dr Soothing Gel and CosMedix Rescue, I am convinced it would have taken my skin much longer to get better without these two lovelies.

Phillipa’s Things That Calm Review

“I’ve had a few issues with sore red skin over the years. Particularly related to past medical issues, which means I simply haven’t been able to avoid it. Since working here I’ve come across quite a few gems that I love.

I’m going to start with the most recent and work my way back. As I’m writing this, I’m stuck at home with a cold. Crazy hey, as it’s summer right. But that’s the way things roll in my home. School goes back and we all get sick. Well, I reached a point yesterday when I just couldn’t use a tissue anymore on my nose. It was completely red raw. I’m sure most of you can sympathise… I’m so grateful I have a few samples lying around, as I’ve been using the Societe Calming Relief Balm. I’d actually brought it home so my husband could try it on after shaving, curious to see how it would go. Well, I don’t know about shaving rashes, but it sure works a treat for my red nose. I can now blow my nose without pain! Yay! Well, not yay really… I’d rather just have the cold gone!!! LOL This probably isn’t what you’re really looking for though, hey?

When I’m looking for products to calm my red cheeks when they’re dehydrated and post treatment I use the Aspect Dr Soothing Kit.

It has everything you need to calm and rehydrate your skin. Starting with their gentle cleanser, making sure my skin is clean but not overly aggravated. Then I use the Hyaluronic Serum – if you’re not addicted to this already, then get cracking! It’s amazing for rehydrating your skin and leaving it soft and plump without being greasy and overdoing it. When your skin is suffering, it makes huge difference. Lastly the kit contains Aspect Dr Redless. This little gem is a a multi-purpose oil that is a corrective, anti-red, antioxidant calming serum. It’s based on the Sea Buckthorn Berry as well as natural Omega 3 and antioxidants (including Vitamin C) to help comfort all skin types, even the most sensitive.

So, this kit pretty much does what it’s called. Sooth your skin. Trust Aspect to get it right…”

Meagan’s Things That Calm Review

Product Review Meagan

“If anyone’s skin needs calming, it’s mine! I have extremely dry, reactive skin. Hydration is a constant battle and I love any product that feels soothing on my skin.

My favourite is Osmosis MD Rescue, I use this every day. I feel like it covers all bases. It calms my skin almost instantly, it neutralises toxins, it clears blemishes and imperfections, it helps hydrate, it shrinks pore size and changes skin texture dramatically- no other product changes my skin texture like this one. The serum is also so rich that I’ve started using half my normal amount of moisturiser which is a bonus!

When my skin is feeling particularly bad, I will use a double dose before bed. It honestly calms my skin immediately. Aspect Dr Resveratrol or Osmosis MD Hydrate moisturiser right after is the ultimate luxury for your poor irritated skin.

You may find this is more a treatment serum for you, and not necessary every day as I do. One jar of this, you will definitely see changes in your skin tone and texture. It’s also wonderful to use as a spot treatment for blemishes!”

Rosie’s Things That Calm Review

Product Review Rosie

“I am absolutely in love with CosMedix Rescue. If my skin is ever feeling tight, red, dehydrated or irritated, this is my go-to product.  Personally, I use it of an evening after my serums and I leave I on over night as a mask, however you can use it am or pm.  In winter I use it quite regularly as I definitely notice my skin becomes very dehydrated and it’s great balm-like consistency really locks in the moisture. Cannot recommend this product highly enough.”
