Party Season Makeup Tips and Trends

Makeup Trends 2018

The Summer/party season is almost upon us! With festivals, Christmas parties and holidays galore, we want to look our best. So, what to do about makeup? We believe makeup should highlight and define natural beauty, so we’ve come up with some tips with the latest trends to help you look your best this season.

Makeup Tips

Good Quality Makeup. Hopefully, you’re already using good skin care, which means you should have a good base or an improving one to work your magic on. When you choose a good quality makeup, your skin will reap the benefits, with added antioxidants and UV protection to help support your skin. Both Osmosis Colour and the Colorescience mineral makeup ranges contain many of these and more added goodies to ensure your skin remains in optimum health throughout the day. In fact, both these ranges are formulated to treat your skin, as well as give you the natural cover you desire – all day long!

It’s all about that base. By using a primer, you create the perfect base for your makeup to sit on. A good primer should even out the texture and tone of the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and allowing your makeup to last longer as it protects you from damaging and ageing UV damage.

Get colour-matched. There’s nothing worse than the wrong foundation colour. Ideally, you should be able to blend it across your jawline and onto your neck, without a distinct line. Remember that as the weather warms, no matter how diligent you are with your UV protection, your skin tones may change. Also, if you enjoy some Sunless tanning products on your face and throat, you’ll need to match yourself to this darker shade.

Stay hydrated. One of the first places we notice dehydration is in the skin. Make sure you keep up with the water, particularly after a big night! Don’t forget to apply your antioxidant and growth factor serums as without these your skin may have difficulty retaining the water you drink.  If you feel your your skin is dehydrated or needs some extra help after the winter, the Osmosis MD Stemfactor and/or Osmosis MD Rescue serum are growth factor/DNA repair serums that are simply brilliant at changing skins quite quickly. Makeup Trends – What’s in?

With Spring in the air, it’s a great time to brighten up our wardrobes and look at ways to add colour into our daily lives. It’s time to shake off our monotone Winter palette, and embrace the warmth that the sun, flowers, trees and the addition of Vitamin D bring! A great way to add a burst of colour into everyday life – or those special occasions, is in your makeup. The last few seasons have seen a build up of colour across the catwalks, and this is slowly filtering into our mainstream looks.

Dewy Golden Goodness

There is also a sway towards the natural dewy look. Neutral/rosy lip colours with a soft mid-shine finish make lips appear softer than ever, and a shimmer of golden highlighter across the cheeks and eyes accentuate the warm feeling of the warmer sun glowing on our skin. Starting with the light Osmosis CC Cream We recommend adding the Osmosis Colour Contour Duo to your makeup bag this Spring, allowing the addition of a shiny glow with subtle contouring to your cheeks and face for this naturally highlighted look. Pairing this back with the Colorescience Lip Shine SPF to give your lips both a natural shine as well as sun protection all-in-one. Adding the final touch with the Colorescience Mascara that is perfect for those who want to nourish their eyelashes without causing irritation.

Prominent Red Eyes

Makup Trends 2018 Red Eye

Makeup Trends 2018Our Eyes are taking much of the focus this year, particularly with the Red Eye look. Starting with a neutral base eye colour such as Bronzed Cocoa Osmosis Colour Eye Trio, and highlighting the upper and lower eye with a coral blush such as Poppy Osmosis Colour Blush. This is a bold look and the catwalks take one step further and raise the colour all the way up to the eyebrows… so if you’re having fun being fashion forward, this is the latest trend!

Cat Eye Glam

Eyeliner Makeup Trends 2018

Eye LinerThe thick eyeliner has been coming through for a while now following the smoky eye trend, and it’s still going strong. This is best applied with a gel eyeliner, allowing more control over your application. This isn’t just a thin application to enhance your mascara, instead this is artwork of it’s own! It is often also added to the Red Eye look for added drama.

Smoky Eye

Azure Watercolour Highlight

You will all have seen the Smoky Eye look by now, adding dark mystery to your everyday glam. This look is simply using the Osmosis Eye Pencil and smudging it with a cotton tip over your eyelid – remembering that blending is vital to ensure a soft edged look. Our favourite addition to this look is the Azure Watercolour with it’s glittery shine! It’s a great way to accent your pupils and eyelashes.

Don’t forget brows

Red Eye Defined Eyebrows

The latest eye looks are bold and you need the eyebrows to be well defined as they frame your face and define the look. If you are not confident with adding a lot of colour and shape yourself, see a professional. Touch-ups though, are easier with Osmosis Brow Gels – very natural and easy. The brush is in the top so you’ll never lose it! Colorescience Brow Palette is equally as easy.

Draping is the new contouring

Basically, draping is a technique that focuses on sculpting your face using blushes to give you a more natural contour. Osmosis Colour has 5 different shades of blush to play with, so you can create a soft, defined look.

Eye Shadow Options

Osmosis Colour Eye TrioSo much choice for eye shadows –

  • Osmosis Colour – the relatively new Water Colour range is very soft and pretty
  • Alternatively, for extra colour to smudge in the outer corner and with three colours to blend for a perfect look, try Osmosis Colour Eye Shadow Trio
  • Colorescience – palettes of colour for eyes

Lip Colour – Spring-flowers-bright is in!

Colorescience Lip Shine SPF

The Osmosis Lipsticks have you covered, whether you like your lips bright or soft!! They have glosses, lipsticks and lip glazes – which is your fave, I wonder?

What is important is that your lips are smooth, hydrated, ready for colour and also, that you protect them from the UV’s out there. The Colorscience Lip Shine comes in a Clear to pop over your existing lipstick, but also in colours to wear on their own. Plus, it has SPF35, which is marvellous – smear some on the end of your nose for extra cover.

Have thin lips? Would like some added body? Try the PCA Skin Lip Therapy. One end plumps and the other hydrates – perfect.

Enjoy!!
