When we add a mask to our clients faces in-clinic we have a wide range of “additions” we can use to make it personalised to your skins needs. What do we do at home though? While it’d be great to think we’d each get a facial during the week, we’re normally too busy. Thus, we’re recreating our own facials at home. Which masks do we use ourselves? Well, this week our mask product review takes you through our weekly favourites. Which one would you choose?!
Meg’s Masks Product Review
“My skin has been really loving the Aspect Fruit Enzyme Mask a whole lot more than usual lately. Extra humidity means that I seem to always have rough dead skin that needs shedding off, and this mask is an oldie, but it sure is a goodie. Here’s the lowdown:
What is it:
An enzyme based mask. Enzymes are proteins that break things down. They are super gentle and are able to ‘dissolve’ the keratin that sticks dead skin cells together and gently slough away that rough skin that we can get when too much dead skin has built up.
How to use it:
This is my favourite part, because the dead skin quite literally peels off under your fingertips. It is very satisfying. Just cleanse your face, apply a 5 cent piece sized amount to damp fingertips and massage away. After a little while you will feel it happening. Rinse off and follow with your serums. You will immediately feel how smooth your skin is.
Who can use it?
Everyone! What I love about this mask is that even those with the most sensitive skins should be able to tolerate it. It is great for those who suffer from rosacea and acne too. I also love to use it a few days after a professional peel, such as a lactic treatment or a SkinPen needling treatment as it is so gentle but really works to shift any residue dead skin that is just hanging on by a thread.
How often?
You can use this mask two to three times per week. Use it before a special occasion for an instant glow and flawless makeup application. Or like me, just use it when you feel that your skin needs a little TLC.
And the best part?
We are giving one away, along with some other goodies TODAY!!!”

Phillipa’s Masks Product Review
“I’ve recently gone through my skincare routine with the girls to “clean it up” as I have been trying so many new products this year that my routine became a little willy-nilly by the end… lots of great products but no real direction for what I wanted to achieve with my skin. So, the fresh start me is back on Osmosis MD Polish.
As I have a familial history of acne rosacea and I have small “spider veins” on my cheeks, the girls have given me a gentle way to exfoliate. The Polish mask by Osmosis uses enzymes rather than granules to remove the connection between live and dead skin cells. Allowing them to be washed away without scrubbing. This makes it perfect for people with sensitive skin or those like me who become flushed easily.
As I’m time-poor and tend to put my kids first, I use this mask once a week. I wash my face, pop on a thin layer of Polish, then apply the scrub from the Medik8 Smooth Body Exfoliating Kit to my legs, feet & elbows. I follow this with a shower – and voila, I’m smooth again, from my face to my toes! When I’m needing some soothing goodness (my skin feels hot quickly after being in the sun, even with SPF50 & zinc) I still have a few of the Societe Sheet Masks to pop on also… because well, they’re cool goodness really. Particularly when I pop them in the fridge first.”

Meagan’s Masks Product Review
“The build up of dead skin cells is what causes our skin to look and feel lifeless, dull and dry. This is why I use (and love) Osmosis MD Polish at least once a week. I prefer to use an enzyme mask to exfoliate, as it’s gentler on the skin, yet just as effective as scrubs.
The main ingredient in Polish is Cranberries, so it has a beautiful zesty, fruity smell. The fruit enzymes break down those dead skin cells, any flakiness and reveal a tight, fresh and polished skin! It’s really high in Vitamin C which is so important, as the antioxidants are constantly neutralising any free radical damage.
I like to use this before an event, going out for dinner, or just when my skin needs a good ‘buffing’. Apply Osmosis MD Tropical Mango Mask on straight after for the ultimate at home care. Your skin will feel so soft, clear and bright!”

Rosie’s Masks Product Review
“The Osmosis Tropical Mango Mask is one of our most popular masks in clinic for barrier repair and function, particularly at this time of year when dehydration starts to wreak havoc on skin.
A combination of mango seed butter, jojoba seed oil, cucumber fruit extract and avocado oil, hydrate, heals and repairs skin. This luxurious mask can be used on all skin types, from those who are sensitive to blemish-prone skin. The epidermal barrier functions in preventing water loss and protecting the skin from external stressors such as microbial and environmental stressors. Impaired function can lead to dehydration, blemishes, redness, irritation and flaking skin.
The tropical mango mask is designed to nourish and restore the barrier so that it can function effectively and protect the deeper layers of the skin. It calms and soothes inflamed skin whilst plumping and hydrating. The perfect mask to care for and nourish your skin.”
