Our Clinic babies have been born!!
See (adorable) pictures. How about the mums’ Pregnancy Skin?
Having had two staff members pregnant together, due within a week of each other, it very much highlighted the issues women have with their skin for their 9 months and then, also, whilst they are breastfeeding.

The great anticipation of birth had us guessing who would come first, what would be the babies’ weights and so on, and in the end Meagan and Phillipa were in rooms beside each other, having their beautiful babies within 2 days of each other. A boy for Meagan and a girl for Phillipa. Both babies, and both mums, are feeling fine three weeks post-birth, which makes everyone happy. Pregnancy Skin though is another issue altogether.

We receive many email queries and online consultations from women who expect to have radiant skin during their 9 months and instead, poor things, they develop breakouts, rough skin, pigmentation and milia. It’s more common than not, especially in the 1st trimester, and though it is hormonally controlled, when we examine the skin, it is invariably dehydrated. Even if there is acne, the secret is to treat the dehydration with soothing, hydrating, nourishing antioxidants and pregnancy safe moisturisers – the skin will slowly improve.
Both our girls suffered from moderate to severe dehydration, but we thought we’d share some of their skin story with you.
Phillipa’s Pregnancy Skin
Radiant throughout her 9 months, however Phillipa felt dry and itchy at times with her cheeks looking gloriously flushed, as in a “peaches and cream” complexion most of the time. Phillipa became concerned about developing pigment and so began, in her 2nd trimester, the Aspect Dr Complete Pigment serum, which is safe to use whilst pregnant and yet is effective at controlling hormonal pigment.
Products used

Meagan’s Pregnancy Skin
Meagan suffers from really dry skin at the best of times and so, when pregnant, she glows a healthy radiance, but feels very tight throughout the day. She loves a good rich moisturiser! She developed some milia up around the eye area, which is a sure sign of dehydration.
Products used

- Serum Aspect Dr Redless – soothing and hydrating
- Hydration Aspect Dr Hyaluronic serum – hydrating

Both girls enjoyed in-clinic hydrating facials 4-8 weekly, which included a relaxing back massage (via the bed), plus one of Rosie’s lovely hand massages – tailor made for each skin, they said these treatments really helped their skin feel and look its best. In the third trimester, when sleep became a problem, one of the best lotions for pregnancy they found was the Miessence Breast and Body Balm – it was “adorable” – they both exclaimed. They have both continued on their regimes whilst breastfeeding. This is a time when the skin simply cannot get enough moisture – they are drinking/guzzling water and sloshing on the Redless and Rescue Balm for relief.

I just want to say what a lovely article to read because there is barely any reference to skin care and radiance during pregnancy. Other articles just don’t seem to address the real problems.
