Experiencing dehydrated skin is uncomfortable at best, and painful at worst – and often often gets more noticeable during the colder seasons. While adding something extra to heal your cracked and dry skin can bring great relief, it’s a much better idea to plan ahead and add the extra moisture in BEFORE you have the issue. Check out these Winter skin product reviews below to see which hydrating products we’re turning to ourselves this Winter.
Meg’s Winter Skin Product Review
“Winter can pose many skin issues. With the dry air, wood heaters and air conditioners, and less water intake, the most common concern I hear of during these months is dry, irritated skin.
If you are prone to eczema or psoriasis, rosacea or general inflammation, this can be a time when these conditions really flare up, so it’s super important that we are using products that keep our protective barrier strong so our skin stays healthy and hydrated.
One I am loving is SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2. Here’s the low down:
- Firstly, it is the scent that gets you. With a eucalyptus freshness, this cream smells absolutely divine.
- The texture is thick and creamy, but doesn’t feel oily – great for those with combination skin.
- Restores essential skin lipids by using ceramides, natural cholesterol, and fatty acids (Ceramides improve hydration and strengthen the skin’s barrier, cholesterol accelerates barrier recovery and fatty acids aids in the structural integrity of the skin and improves skin elasticity).
- Improves the look of skin fullness, texture, and pore appearance.
- Improves the appearance of skin evenness and overall radiance.
- Lightweight and fast-absorbing texture.
- Paraben and dye-free.
- Ideal for ageing, normal, and dry skin types.
This cream is ideal for those who need more hydration but also want the added extras of strengthening and firming. Those who love luxurious night creams will really love this one.
I use this cream every few nights, as I really want it to last, because it is expensive. I find that my skin feels super plump, hydrated and soothed after application and I tend to use this on days that I feel I need more moisture, such as days when I have copped a bit too much sunshine.”

Phillipa’s Winter Skin Product Review
“Okay, I’m going to have a little rave about my favourite Winter moisturiser – again… have you guessed it? Aspect Super Moisturising Complex (SMC for the long-time users).
I know that Resveratrol is our best-selling moisturiser, but I just love the smell and feel of SMC. It’s a thick cream that smells great and leaves my skin feeling really soft. I love that it’s super hydrating, increasing your moisture content and improve fine lines and wrinkles. Combining squalene, aloe vera, hyaluronic acid and antioxidants including vitamin C and E it “has it all” so to speak. This means you’re receiving your daily dose of vitamin C and hyaluronic acid already (although I still add my antioxidant serums to give the extra boost).
My love of this product is really about it’s feel vs it’s price. I have LOTS of moisturisers I love in our clinic, but this is my favourite for being affordable and still receiving a quality product for dehydrated skin.
Now, having said I’m addicted to SMC I’m actually not using it at the moment. I’ve been trialling the NEW CosMedix Harmonize and Medik8 Daily Radiance Vitamin C.
My take on these are really positive.
I find that I’m terrible at applying SPF during the colder months, so I wanted to make sure it was in my moisturiser. That way I pop it on at least once a day!!! Eeeek! Daily Radiance feels thicker that SMC – and it doesn’t have that silky edge to it, as well as having a slightly more tangy scent. Having said this, it’s been nourishing and easy to use each morning without needing anything extra during the day. As the Medik8 products are into more sustainable packaging, it doesn’t have the “air lock” pump action of the others though, which I must admit I do like. I can’t accidentally spill them everywhere! LOL
Harmonize is a great moisturiser (both for morning and night) that feels silky to touch and is a bit thinner that SMC. It’s the kind of consistency that would be great for both dry or acne skin, which is rare. It’s rich in probiotics and has a dry touch feel to it after being absorbed – even though it feels velvety and nourishing. I actually spoil myself and add PCA Skin Hyaluronic Acid Overnight Mask afterwards once a week, to get that extra lush moisture boost. The new CosMedix pump action bottle is really nice and overall I’ve loved using this moisturiser.
ps. Have you seen the NEW CosMedix Elite Alt-A – it’s totally on my radar to check it out next!!! Age-defying hydration with Bakuchiol that also protects from environmental stressors – yes please!!!
pps. If you want the ULTIMATE in hydrating luxury check out the Osmosis INDULGE package we created. This is actually the selection of products we give people when they’re skin is looking “dry and inflamed” as it’s such a luxurious combination. If you’re suffering from Winter Dryness – then this is actually the perfect combo for you…“

Nidia’s Winter Skin Product Review
“As a person with dry skin, winter has always been a bit tricky for me, but I finally feel like I’ve landed on just the right products and routine to keep my skin soft and hydrated all through the season (early morning soccer games included!). Here’s a quick rundown of what I use, when I use it and why:
Osmosis MD Rescue Epidermal Repair Serum – apply morning and night – I use this magic serum for so many things, but specifically in terms of winter skin, it is anti-inflammatory and very calming for irritated, wind-swept skin. It also has Arctalis, which is a marine active ingredient that enhances moisture retention and protects from blue light damage, so you’ll be protected from all those cosy nights in watching Netflix!
CosMedix Hydrate+ Moisturiser with Zinc – apply daily in the morning – we absolutely still need a sunblock in winter and this one is perfect. Not only does it shield your skin from UV rays and environmental stressors, it also packs an antioxidant and hydration punch. Just the thing for those bright frosty mornings.
CosMedix Rescue Intense Hydrating Balm + Mask – apply as needed – like the Swiss Army knife of skincare, this balm does whatever you need it to. I like to add small amounts to my moisturiser for extra, extra hydration and then apply directly to any dry or irritated spots. You can also use it as a luxurious mask, lip balm, to soothe any scrapes, even as a primer before foundation. Keep it in your bag, so it’s always handy.
Aspect Super Moisturising Complex (SMC) – apply nightly – this is my go-to night cream. It’s lovely and rich and absorbs into your skin so well. Packed with super-hydrating hyaluronic serum, peptides, stem cell extracts and botanicals to lock in the hydration, you’ll wake up with soft, plump skin and a youthful glow.”

Zoe’s Winter Skin Product Review
“Moisturising is my favourite part of my skincare routine! You can guarantee that one of the first things I do when getting home, is removing my makeup and slapping on some moisture. I love the fresh, awakening feeling that applying moisturiser gives me!
After trying as many different moisturisers as you can imagine, I have stumbled across my two absolute favourites, both coming from the brand Aspect.
Personally, for me I’m not someone who likes heavily scented moisturisers, or any facial product for that matter! A second thing I look out for when trying a new moisturiser, is that it doesn’t leave a heavy greasy feel. I like to be able to apply it as my last step in my skin routine, then either start my day, or go to bed without being able to continue to smell and feel the product on my face.
For this reason, I am recommending the Aspect Super Moisturising Complex (SMC), also the Aspect Photostat 9 moisturiser. I know… I love them both so much I couldn’t pick just one!!
Enjoy softer skin right away with SMC, as the moisturiser absorbs instantly into your skin. Suitable for all skin types, but perfect for skin that is particularly dry, dehydrated, and impaired. A great investment for people with aging skin concerns also! I knew from the second I started using SMC that this was going to be one of my #1 go to products!
Photostat 9 is a perfect all rounder for all skin types. With this beautiful light weight formula, irritated skin will feel calmer immediately after application, and it works in 4 different ways including an eye cream! The scent is gentle and it’s not as heavy as SMC. This is particularly great for those with normal and combination skin types – including ageing skin.”
