Don’t you just hate it when your ‘essential’ product is out and you don’t have any more yet?! Noooooo!!! Well, that is exactly what this review is all about. What are those products that “make us want to cry” when we have to go a few days – or more – without… what do you think we’ll choose for this “One Thing I Can’t Be Without” review? Better yet, if you could only have one thing in your bathroom cabinet for your face, what would it be?
While we have our favourite products, are they actually the products we’d make sure we always use? Often they’re the ‘luxe’ extras, compared to the products we cry when we forget. Having to watch our faces change to something that maybe isn’t glowing the way we’d like to.
Meg was mean enough to ask us all to choose ONE product to take on a tropical island with us… what would you choose?!
Meg’s One Item!
“So let’s play that game where we imagine that we are being sent to a deserted island, and we can only take one item of skin care. OMG this might be a nightmare, but for the sake of this review, I will come up with one product. I know that I should say sunscreen, but that’s a little boring (although super important) so I am going to choose something else…
This thinking part actually took me a long time, because how to choose, but I have decided on …
Osmosis Catalyst AC-11. It was out of this or Aspect Dr Resveratrol but given that the Catalyst AC-11 is a little more multi-functional – I went with that. It is one of the best age reversal serums available. It combines vitamin C and amino acids to rebuild, treat and prevent pigment, stimulate collagen and give your skin antioxidant protection. Given that it feels thick and moisturising, I feel as though I don’t have to put moisturiser on afterwards.
It can help to heal broken capillaries or skin tags, as well as scarring, reducing damage and making fine lines, wrinkles and pigmentation issues less visible.
Studies on this product say:
- It’s clinically Proven: Increases elasticity by 110%
- 15% tightening of the eyelids
- Improves skin radiance and luminosity by 32%
- Reduces broken capillaries and redness by 64%“

Julie’s One Thing I Can’t Be Without
“Oh so hard this one! What would I take to that deserted island if I could only choose one skincare product? Hmm, I’ll just stay home, thanks…
When I thought about the products I use on a regular basis, I realised I actually use something from every single brand we have on our shelves! I’m not kidding. So choosing a single one is really difficult.
Okay gotta do it, so it would have to be a sunscreen.
If there is one product you know will ward off future damage, that’s it. It was only my last product review that I waxed lyrical about my favourite at the moment, which is the SkinCeuticals Ultra Facial Defense SPF50. It really does feel like a lovely lightweight moisturiser, I love it. We have so many to choose from, it just depends whether you prefer a chemical sunscreen or physical one, I don’t mind to be honest, and have also used and totally loved the Aspect Dr Hydra Shield which is a zinc based physical sun block, and the Mesoestetic Melan 130 Pigment Control which has SPF50 and a slight tint to even out skin tone, this one actually has both physical AND chemical protection. Maybe I should take that one so I have a little bit of coverage at the same time…HANG ON! Totally forgot about a product I use ALL the time, it has SPF50 and coverage too, it’s the Aspect Sun CC Cream but I do usually cocktail this with another product….
Geez, I’d be hopeless at deciding which one to take, but whichever one it was, at least I would know I shouldn’t get any more lines, wrinkles, blemishes… YES!!… am I allowed more than one tube?? Oh!! Can I take my Fyne Lash Serum?? No more wrinkles, plus long dark lashes, and lush dark brows, I’d be a happy chappy.”

Phillipa’s One Thing I Can’t Be Without
“Ooooo, I find this question soooo hard?! Simply because the one thing I’d cry about if I ran out would be a moisturiser, as the feeling of dry and tight skin is really uncomfortable. But – if I only got to have one item, I’d choose something with SPF so I wouldn’t be a lobster after the first day! My skin really doesn’t like the sun.
So, I’ve narrowed it down to three products.
Have you every tried Aspect Dr Hydra Shield? It’s a really nice moisturiser with zinc included. So you have some sun protection and hydration. CosMedix Hydrate + is even nicer, but there’s not as much in each tube. Recently I’ve been doing more research into Mesoesetetic DNA Radiance, and discovered it’s not just a moisturiser for the 55+ range. It has you typical hydrating abilities of course, but it’s also your SPF with hyaluronic acid, soluble collagen and antioxidants to stimulate DNA repair. Not only that, but it has Retinyl Palmitate, which is a gentle vitamin A. All-in-all, this is designed as your anti-ageing GEM for morning hydration! The catch? I haven’t tried it yet… so I can’t really say yay-or-nay just yet.
Guess what though, I have tried ANOTHER contender – Medik8 Daily Radiance Vitamin C. Not only do you have your moisturiser, but zinc AND vitamin C, yesssss. Unfortunately, the quantity isn’t as much as the others, but with the 3-in-1 benefit I guess I just answered my own dilemma, it’ll have to be Daily Radiance. That way my skin has double protection from the sun while feeling hydrated. Done!!!”

Meg’s One Item!
“My product I can’t be without… is none other than the Osmosis MD Rescue!
An absolute godsend for my problematic skin. I use this serum every day, as I know it has so many amazing benefits! With the remarkable ability to calm inflammation, neutralise toxins, activate epidermal wound repair, reduce redness and even out skin tone.. these are just a few of the amazing perks.
I have personally tried so many different skincare brands and different products over the years, just to be disappointed when I don’t see the results/changes in my skin that I was hoping for. Well, that is all in the past for me now that I have found Rescue… I have been using this serum for about 6 months now, and I started to see a visible difference in my skin after the first week!! You only need the smallest amount, the size of a pea will be more than enough to achieve the benefits.
Working in a pharmacy in the past for so long, I would purchase something every time we got a new skincare product in… not actually doing any research first or knowing if it was going to be good for my skin or not. That’s one of the reasons I love Rescue so much, because it really does cover all skin bases! Whether you have extremely sensitive, easily irritated skin or congested, problematic skin, this serum will do exactly what it says… it will RESCUE your skin!!
This is the one product that I will never be without again, and that I recommend to absolutely everyone to try! I promise you won’t be disappointed with the results.”
