Moisturiser Review – Our Favourites!

Do you have a favourite moisturiser? It’s often the product that we stay faithful to the most. What happens when it no longer feels quite right? When you feel like you need to keep topping it up during the day. Perhaps it’s feeling too heavy now that you’ve changed your cleanser or mask that you use. This week we have a moisturiser review, so you can have an insight into someone else’s fav’. See if it would suit you also.

Your skin actually requires different moisture levels both during the different seasons, as well as different times in your life. What you love as a teenager definitely won’t suit as a 30 something… and definitely not as a 60 something. Humidity as well as hormonal and lifestyle changes all take its toll on your skin. So, with this in mind, check out our real-life reviews below, and see what you might be missing.

Better yet, leave a review for your favourite moisturiser on our website (see the REVIEWS tab below the product image on our website). Your review will help others to make the right choices for their skin also! Plus you get extra loyalty points to discount your next moisturiser purchase… too easy!

Meg’s Moisturiser Review

Product Review Meg

My skin has changed a fair bit since moving to a hot climate.  My pores are bigger (I know – so sad) and I am prone to more congestion if I am not careful with what I use.  It’s mostly down to the humidity, among a few other factors, but it does mean that I do require less of a heavy moisturiser, but definitely one that contains SPF.

For my review today, I am going to be talking about the relatively new Societe Cover Shield SPF 15.

What is it:

Societe Cover Shield is daily moisturiser, antioxidant and physical sunscreen all in one.

What does it do:

This is where Cover Shield is a little bit more special from your average moisturiser/SPF combo.  The addition of antioxidants from ingredients such as green tea extract, means that this cream fights free radical damage while also protecting you from it.  Not only that, it also contains ingredients that purify the skin, making it a perfect option for those who are prone to acne.

Key Benefits:

  • Broad Spectrum UVA/UVB
  • Fights and protects against free radicals
  • Effective environmental protectant
  • Keeps out environmental pollutants
  • Non-tinted/dries clear
  • Moisturising, non-irritating, and skin smoothing

Who is it suited to?

Absolutely anyone.  Especially those with inflamed or irritated skins (such as rosacea).  Having said that, the reason that I am really loving this, is because it seems to mattify the excess oil that I currently have, without making me feel dry.  It’s a winner!

Julie’s Moisturiser Review

Product Review Julie

“Moisturisers, I cannot remember a time in my adult life that I haven’t used one on a daily basis. It’s like brushing your teeth, just has to be done, or your day is ruined because you feel weird. I can actually remember a time when serums were only something you would have applied professionally in a beauty clinic etc. so moisturisers were very, very important.

I have recently fallen back in love with Societe Vitamin  D Complex. Such a beautiful moisturiser that I like to use just in the mornings, that’s because it’s so light and feathery, it feels to me more like one for the AM. I’ll switch it up for my night time routine between Aspect Dr Resveratrol or if feeling a bit dull and dry, Osmosis MD Nourish. The latter being an oil which you can use alone, or alternatively you can add a few drops to any moisturiser to boost hydration levels.

It can become confusing with moisturisers because there are so many to choose from. I can’t begin to contemplate the amount I have tried over the years, it must be hundreds!

I’ve become a little more settled now in my old age, so don’t change it up that often, and if I do, I always find myself migrating back to the favourites, for example Aspect Dr Resveratrol.

Phillipa’s Moisturiser Review

“Guess what. I’ve failed this one. I was planning to try a new moisturiser and you know what – I forgot. Arg! So, sorry to say, you’ll be hearing the same products that I’ve likely reviewed before… although there are quite a few!

I’m becoming a moisturiser hoarder… oops!

I’m not quite sure when it happened, but somehow I’m collecting them. Are you ready for my crazy list in my bathroom right now? Aspect Dr Hydra Shield, Societe Vitamin D Complex, Aspect Super Moisturising Complex, and Societe Calming Relief Balm. This isn’t even the full list of moisturisers I’ve tried, just what’s in my cupboard… eeeek!

Going solo moisturiser

Okay, now to tell you about them, starting with Hydra Shield. This is a lightweight daytime moisturiser with zinc and antioxidants. It gives you a background sun protection coverage to start your day. There is no visible zinc showing and it doesn’t feel heavy or greasy. I use this on the days I’m not wearing foundation with SPF. I also don’t tend to use this to reapply as my SPF when I’m outside with the kids all day, more when I’m getting ready in the morning. Simply because then my kids would want it, and they’d use the whole tube on their legs…

Light for layering moisturiser

Societe Vitamin D Complex is a divine light weight moisturiser, and I mean light. Once again I find it best for the morning as it is so light, but depending on what foundation I’m planning on using, I don’t always need extra sun protection. A little goes a long way, and it’s filled with Peptides and Antioxidants including Vitamin D. It’s definitely my fav’ daytime moisturiser at the moment. It does mean I use a separate SPF, which is fine when I’m using either Societe Prime and Defend or Colorescience All Calm anyway before my foundation.

Night time treat

My night time moisturiser is Aspect Super Moisturising Complex. It is what it says, a super burst of hydration. It’s full of Hyaluronic Acid, Peptides, and Stem Cell Extracts to promote hydration and anti-ageing. This is also balanced with calming ingredients that leave my skin feeling cool – maybe that’s just our crazy weather. Anyway this is hands down my fav’ nigh time treat and I know when I wake up, if I forgot to use it the night before…

Calming relief

Lastly I have the Societe Calming Relief Balm which was a new tester I had brought home to try after shaving. Guess what, I still haven’t use it for that. Only to help my nose with my cold that’s just been. So, sorry, not much more I can tell you there. In my groggy haze it was really nice???? Realistically Aspect SMC leaves me feeling calm already, so I haven’t managed to switch to this one yet.

I’m completely hooked on my trio of moisturisers and don’t have a single fav’ as I use them at different times… and I even have more I’d like to try!!! Eeeek, I think I’d better use up what I have first though. I promise I’ll try something new next time.”

Meagan’s Moisturiser Review

Product Review Meagan

My favourite moisturiser is Aspect Dr Resveratrol. To explain this moisturiser to clients I use the words, antioxidant boost, collagen producing and skin softening. Your skin feels softer, plumper and healthier the day you start using it.  It’s rich, but not greasy at all. You can feel your skin soaking it up, plumping out any dehydration and leaving your skin smooth and so soft to touch. I use it morning and night, it’s brilliant!

Rosie’s Moisturiser Review

Product Review Rosie

“I love Osmosis MD Quench as a daily moisturiser; it’s lightweight, but full of Hyaluronic Acid which is super hydrating, this also means that my makeup goes on beautifully over the top.  It contains organic Shea Butter and Jojoba Seed oil to maintain moisture within the epidermal barrier so I know that throughout the day my skin hydration levels won’t decrease. Bonus, it smells delicious!”
