While we specialise and love our skincare products, we stock a range of makeup to compliment differing skin types. This is because using makeup that contains pore blocking ingredients can counteract all the good work you put into having healthy skin. Meg Product Review

Since moving to a tropical climate, I have not been using makeup much at all, but there are two products that I still use quite regularly, and are great for anyone looking for a super easy, fresh, minimal look that also offers sun protection, and they are both from ColoreScience:

ColoreScience Total Eye

You may have heard me talk about this before in another article, but I just have to highlight it again, because it is one of my favourite beauty products of all time.  Total Eye is a 3 in one product that acts as an under eye concealer, an eye serum and it offers sun protection.

It is creamy, thicker than a serum, but not too thick. It blends beautifully so you can wear it just on its own and it doesn’t give that cakey look that some concealers do when they get into the fine lines.  Unfortunately it is probably not the right colour for those with super dark skin, but for those with fair to medium tan skin, it blends perfectly into your natural colouor.

Other additional benefits of this product are:

  • Brightens the eye area
  • Corrects imperfections
  • Chemical free 100% mineral
  • SPF 15* protection against environmental stressors (*the packaging will state SPF 30, but by Australian standards, this is an SPF 15 product)
  • Helps restore skin
  • Improves the appearance of dark circles, puffiness, fine lines, and wrinkles

Sunforgettable Total Protection Brush

Another ColoreScience product that I swear by is the Sunforgettable Total Protection Brush.  This is such a fab product for people like me, who are not really into applying a lot of makeup, but still want a smooth finish and even tone and like the convenience of a powder.  This one does come in a few different shades, and I use it in Tan, which is a lovely honey colour.  The simplicity of this product is what I love – it is an all in one.  The powder is stored in the handle of the brush and it dispenses through the brush just with a couple of taps.  You can layer it for more coverage without looking caked on, and it has the added benefit of sun protection too, which is something that we all should be using.

Here are some key features:

  • 100% mineral
  • Easy to use with self dispensing brush
  • Light to medium coverage
  • Water resistant – great for those who have oily skin, live in humidity or who sweat
  • Broad Spectrum UVA and UVB SPF 30
  • Easy to clean the brush – just unscrew the bottom of the handle and tip out the powder to wash and dry brush, then add the powder back in!

Please note that ColoreScience is currently going through a change in distributors, so currently we only have what is available on our shelves. We will be stocking this brand in the future once they secure a new distributor, so if you are interested in any of their products, I suggest you order before we run out!”

Phillipa Product Review

“I’m not a fan of full coverage makeup. I did a few trials with Meg at one stage, and she had to agree it just didn’t suit me… I’ve had “rosy cheeks” since I was a baby, and when I try to hide them, I just don’t feel like myself. Having said that, I have a plethora of freckles (and since childbirth melasma) covering my skin – so I like to hide my skin tone slightly.

Goodbye to a few favourites…

I’ve never been a makeup person, so the lingo has taken a while to get my head around. Now I know I like my makeup to have a “light or sheer coverage” that is “buildable” for the days that aren’t going so well. For those of you who’ve been with us a while, I LOVED the Osmosis CC Cream – but it’s not available in Australia right now. Even our popular Colorescience is on hold while we transition to a new distributer (nooooo!!! get what you can now!).

Anyway, back to the makeup review! I go between Colorescience All Calm when my skin feels raw and Jade Iredale Liquid Minerals. The Liquid Minerals has a mix of Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C and Coenzyme Q10 – and it’s designed for ageing skin. It plumps and hydrates and the more layers I put 0n the better the coverage. Normally I put one layer on for a sheer look, but if I’m going out or to work I either use the Aspect Primer or pop another layer on. The bonus to using a primer is getting a more even and fuller coverage.”

Exactly as the name suggests, Jane Iredale’s Triple Luxe Lipstick feels beautifully luxurious to wear. This would be thanks to a blend of super hydrating oils and waxes, including Moringa, Avocado and Sunflower Seed Oils. Where other hydrating lipsticks I’ve tried tend to dry out quickly, this one has definite staying power, keeping my lips feeling soft and nourished. It also plays well with my sensitive skin, particularly around my lips – I’m prone to eczema and irritation, but the Triple Luxe Lipstick not only doesn’t irritate my skin, it also feels soothing. Finally, I have to mention the shades because they are gorgeous! Having brown skin, it can be difficult to find shades that suit me and that I like. In this range, I’m loving ‘Sharon’ which is a nude latte colour that’s perfect for everyday and ‘Jamie’ which is a terracotta nude and just the shade for when I’m a little more dressed up. I’m excited to try one of the brighter reds for a pop of colour.

Zoe Product Review

“I’ve been wanting to try a new foundation for a while now, and with a makeup review coming up I felt what a better time to try out the Aspect liquid mineral foundation!

With a thick, velvety texture that leaves a matte appearance on your skin. This foundation is perfect for achieving a subtle natural look, with a light to medium buildable coverage. Personally, I prefer a much thicker coverage to hide those pesky spots that pop up at the worst of times! So, if you are anything like me, this product may not be for you.

If you are wanting to achieve a natural glowing complexion, then the Aspect Liquid Mineral is the perfect foundation for you!”
