Isn’t it unfair that your eyes are one of the first places to show your age. It’s also where you notice the age in others. Smile lines, crow’s feet, eye wrinkles and under eye crepiness are a natural part of the ageing process. So, are they inevitable? Sure, but you can slow the process by actively assisting your skin. This is because the skin around your eyes is a little different to the rest of your body. It is thinner and not able to retain moisture very well… this is where eye creams become your best friend. Even when you feel the wrinkles are well entrenched, you can always start to repair some of the damage.
So, having decided that eye creams, no matter the stage of your life, are your best friend, what are you looking for?
While many of the ingredients in your eye creams may appear similar to your other facial products, stick to specific eye formulations. This is because the skin around your eyes is more sensitive that other parts of your face. Eye creams have been formulated to avoid these damaging irritations. Your eye cream will often contain Vitamin K and E as well as some of the more modern options. These include; hyaluronic acid, alpha lipoic acid, peptides, growth factors, spin trap and Vitamins A and C to name a few.
We have a range of eye creams available. How can you choose between them? Consider at what stage the lines around your eyes are at. Do you need something preventative and gentle, or do you need more hydration and repair? We’ve reviewed a few eye creams we have available for you. To help you choose the right eye cream to suit your needs. We have an informative post on eye wrinkles also, to provide you with more details.
Colorescience Total Eye
“Total Eye is a concealer and eye cream all in one. When I first opened it, I wasn’t sure as the colour is a little orange and the consistency is a little thicker than a traditional eye cream. But once I used it a few times, I really loved it. The peachy colour works really well to hide the dark circles that I have and it feels really moisturising.
Another thing that I love about it is that you only need a small amount, so it lasts a really long time. The dispenser is easy to use and avoids messy lids. So yeah, I really like it!”
CosMedix Elite Eye Doctor & CosMedix Opti Crystals
“Eye creams! Due to my raccoon heritage, I have spent 1.2 billion dollars in the past on eye creams, and nothing worked. I would go through phases of buying one, trying it out for a few weeks, getting totally disillusioned. Then not using one at all for months before trying again. Eventually after many years, I came to the realisation it just wasn’t going to happen. These dark beauties were here for life.
I have tried quite a few eye creams since beginning work here at The Skin Care Clinic (yes the cycle continued for a while) but now have two firm favourites. I do have fine lines around my eyes, I actually don’t mind them, but I do mind having to work hard at making sure my concealer isn’t going to gather in those lines over the course of the day. I needed a product that would at least plump them out to create a smoother surface. CosMedix Elite Eye Doctor and CosMedix Opti Crystals both do this, and writing this review reminds me I have just ran out of CosMedix Elite Eye Doctor so might purchase an Opti Crystals this time and switch it up again.
They’re both so pretty too, like little drops of liquid rainbow.
If it’s cold, the thick consistency of both of them means you may sometimes have to warm the tube to allow the liquid to flow freely.
Many of our customers have confirmed that CosMedix Elite Eye Doctor has certainly reduced their dark rings, so well worth trying, as for me, my lineage is way too ingrained.”
CosMedix Opti Crystals
“When I first started here at the clinic I was only mildly concerned about the wrinkles around my eyes. Since then, I have had my second child and getting enough sleep has become very difficult. With this decrease in sleep and lack of self-care, I’ve noticed a drastic difference in my eye area. Suddenly my CosMedix Opti Crystals eye cream has become very important to me.
The fun thing about this eye cream is the pretty colour when you first squeeze it out of the tube. It looks like white opals with a beautiful purple and green sheen. Of course, once it’s applied it appears clear. The constancy is very thick and sticky, and you only need a ‘match head’ amount rubbed between your fingers and dabbed under your eyes.
This is a gentle and effective eye cream that is perfect to start healing and nourishing the skin around your eyes. Once you’ve completed this tube and your skin is used to the ingredients, you can consider progressing to a stronger formula with CosMedix Elite Eye Doctor. If you’re serious about repair, then CosMedix Opti Crystals is a great starting point.”
Osmosis MD Refresh
“From my product reviews, you now know that I’m a huge Osmosis MD skincare fan! It comes as no surprise that my favourite eye serum, Refresh, is also in this range. I feel like everyone should have this serum in their daily routine, as it really covers all bases. It reduces puffiness (feels instant) fine lines look plumper, dewy, and smoother and it really helps me feel ‘awake’ when applying of a morning. I use concealer under my eyes, so this also helps the product glide over, for a smoother, natural finish.
I find it very comforting that it has Cetearyl Olivate in it (which provides hydration) because my skin is always dry, and I’m constantly trying to achieve that dewy glowing finish. It also has Almond oil which is really high in Vitamin A, to help fight my other main concern – ageing!
I recommend this eye serum to everyone! My family members and friends all love it, thanks to me!”
