I am currently going through IVF and my skin is terrible! It never used to be, but now it is dry, flaky and suffers from breakouts. I eat well – meat and plenty of veggies and I drink about one litre of water each day. What can I do?

Thank you for submitting an online skin consultation and thank you for the photos – they are really helpful. What I can see, and what you are describing, is a dehydrated skin that needs some TLC! I understand the difficulties of IVF, having been there myself, so I feel for you and hope that everything works out. Unfortunately, the stress and medication of IVF shows on our skin. Hormonal changes of any sort are likely to affect our skin – often in the form of acne, dry and irritated skin as well as pigmentation changes. But there is some good news! With a few changes to your skin care routine, we can have your skin looking and feeling much better.
Your diet appears to be really great. Meat and greens are essential for healthy insides and out. However, your water intake needs dramatically changing. At a minimum, you should have 2 litres every day. A little handy hint that I find works, is keeping it in a drink bottle with you all the time. Try this and soon you wont be able to live without it! This one change will certainly improve not only the health of your skin, but your entire body.
Now lets look at skin care. I’m suggesting a bit of a change for you. Just so you can rest assured, all the products I am going to suggest are fine to use during pregnancy – but with anything new, always check with your doctor.
Recommended Skin Care Routine:
Cleanse: Osmosis MD Purify based on lactic acid and enzymes to heal your skin as well as thoroughly clean. Safe to remove eye makeup as well.
Antioxidants: Osmosis MD Replenish applied after cleansing to give your skin the added strength it needs to fight and repair free-radical damage. This wonderful formula contains all the active ingredients your skin needs, while being gentle enough to use daily.
Spray: Osmosis MD Clear Spray over the top of your serum/s and massage in. They help serums to penetrate and lose the ‘sticky’ feeling. I love this!
Moisturiser: Aspect Dr Resveratrol as your nightly moisturising cream that will boost your hydration levels.
Sunblock: CosMedix Hydrate+. Is great because you can use it as your daily moisturiser as well as sun protection without feeling heavy.
Mask: CosMedix Bamboo Glow Mask. Use this once to twice a week. A beautiful mask that gently exfoliates and brightens.
I know that this is a lot to add to your shopping list, but they are important in order to change your skin. It’s also nice to treat yourself, especially when you’re going through a stressful time.
We do offer Afterpay, just to make everything a little easier.
I hope that everything goes well for you,
Best wishes
