It’s almost that time again, Winter is just around the corner!! Some of us love this time of year, the fashion, the cosy nights in, endless mugs of hot tea and soup. While some of us would prefer Mr Vitamin D to stick around permanently, others are planning their Winter wardrobe. If the thought of winter gets you down, let’s try brightening your day through makeup! Planning your Winter ‘look’ whether it’s fashion, make up or a combination of both can be lots of fun, so we’re going to chat to you about the winter makeup trends of 2019.
Velvety Red Lips
The first way to brightening your day is obviously through colour! Lucky for us, a bold red, velvety lip is strutting down every catwalk this season (Jane Iredale Gwen Lipstick is our fav’ or the Lip Stain in Passion). Pair this with minimal makeup for a fresh faced, bare skin, youthful look and let your lips the focus! By adding too much foundation and eye colour, you’ll feel ready for a night out, not ready to run errands! Leaving the skin quite minimal and adding a fine liquid liner to your top eyelid will give you a defined, yet elegant finish.
Fresh Faced Blush
Picture yourself wrapped up in warm coat, scarf, possibly even gloves! A makeup trend to match this look is the ‘Outdoorsy flush’ look. This is where you have your skin looking as fresh and minimal as possible, then adding a flush of the same colour to your cheeks and eyes. We LOVE Jane Iredale Bronzer refill in peaches and Cream. By using the same pinkish tone in both areas, you’ll create a windswept, youthful, burst of energy to the skin which is very refreshing. Keep eyebrows very natural as you want the whole look to be very monotone with nothing ‘standing out’.
Natures Smokey Eye
Smokey eyes are back! This Winter keep those smouldering eyes to neutral tones. To fit in with the monotone theme, place the same tones on the eyes, cheeks and lips. This means using all your warm bronze, charcoal, chocolate and caramel tones to create a very elegant, sleek, sexy look. Again, foundation is at a minimal, and don’t be afraid of your newly pale skin. A smokey eye loves to be paired with clear, fresh and pale skin. Add a touch of contouring powder to define your cheekbones, but no need for any pink or bright colours.
Dewy High Shine Lips
A trend that fits in wonderfully with this look (actually all the looks) is high shine lips! YES, they’re also back. We aren’t talking about the sticky, tacky type of lip gloss, we’re referring to those luxurious balms and lip glosses that give a plump, full and hydrated finish. It’s important to have movement and a natural finish when it comes to lip colour (mostly so people aren’t staring at your lips thinking this looks ridiculous as you speak) but so you feel as though you can drink or kiss someone on the cheek, without adhering to them. An added bonus with this look, we’re also hiding that Winter dehydration. Jane Iredale PureGloss lip gloss is absolute heaven, and perfect for this look!
Shimmer to Shine
It’s not all neutral and monotone this year. Flashes of bright colour are very much in the spotlight, with neon eyeliner, glitter and sparkle spotted everywhere- we just need to make them every day friendly! Try switching glitter finishes for pearl and wear the winter makeup trends daily. Buff products like highlighters, pearl finish eyeshadows into the skin to give a second skin, and natural glowing finish. Your eyeshadow can have colour, just ensure it ties in with your overall look. If you’re heading out, tap in a very small amount of pigment or glitter to both your lips and eyelids. Slightly glittery lips with a high gloss finish and you’re right up there with the trendiest of us! Use the same colour on lips, eyes and cheeks and you’ve got this all covered!
Winter Makeup Trends taken from the catwalk to your couch
We can already see you in the coming months. Dewy, fresh makeup, using neutral colours in a monotone way. Walking fabulously windswept with your clear, pale glowing skin your lips will have people turning their heads. In all honesty, don’t be afraid to wear bright bold lips, they will lift your mood, outfit and skin colouring! Play with neutral colours on your eyes and try the ‘Outdoorsy blush flush look, even just once! You may find it works for you. Your skin will be flawless, so of course stick to a hydrating skin care routine. Remember that too much makeup can be ageing, dehydrating and cause all kinds of issues with your skin, so try to stretch your radiant summer glow out into the cooler months. Always stick to a hydrating skin care routine and never forget that Sunblock!!
