We like to keep things real here at The Skin Care Clinic. Getting to experience a wide range of skin care is fantastic, but with each of us having different skin issues – there are some clear winners that we simply love. More than that though, we are all using this Easter break to celebrate all the things we enjoy… so here’s a sample of what we are loving right now.
“I’m not going to lie, I get excited very easily, so when we received the new Société range a couple of months ago, I wanted to try everything (my bathroom cupboard is a testament to that!!)
But while I get excited over new products, I’m also quite a sceptical person. I don’t always believe the hype straight away (like Osmosis’s Clear Spray – as if that’s going to do anything!! Well, it’s awesome, I use it every day!) I felt the same way about Société Intense Firming Complex. I was told that it’s like Botox in a bottle. As if!! Nothing could be that good. Well folks, I’m here to tell you that it almost is! I’ve been using this serum morning and night and started to notice a difference within 2 weeks. I’m smoother, my crows feet have softened and my pores don’t appear so big. It’s all in the peptides, which trick our body into producing collagen, making our skin tighter. So that is my recommendation!
Oh, one more thing I’m loving is being on holidays!! I have a week off and have gone to Sydney to see my eldest son, Sam, who is in the army. He turned 23 the other day and when I asked him for birthday present ideas, he said ‘Mum, I need some more cleanser, rescue serum and I’m just about out of the Multi B’. 🤣 So it’s never too early to get your kids into a good skin care routine, even if it’s just washing their face with warm water before bed. They’ll thank you for it when they’re older! I started Sam on skincare when he was around 15 and started getting acne. At the time he hated having to wash his face and apply serums, but now it’s just something he does twice a day without thinking about it- and as a result, he has gorgeous skin!”
“I’m loving my dog now. I’m so relieved, the way he has matured. He used to be a Tasmanian Devil, but now he’s a big dog who thinks he is of Chihuahua persuasion. I have scars to prove his devil genes. I would google “how to humanely remove teeth from your pet”, no practical answers. I grew up always having dogs in the family, but I’ve never had one like Oscar.
From the time he arrived home at only six weeks of age, when they have those sharp little puppy teeth, he would be nipping at every part of your body. His nails were so sharp too, more like cat claws, and of course, he loved to paw at you. My brother and sister in-law came to visit one day to meet him, both left covered in blood and bandaids. He made me anxious and I struggled to love him, but he was terribly cute. For months I’d wake up thinking, today I won’t allow him to ‘mouth me’, that’s what the experts call it, ‘mouthing’, a natural thing for puppies, of his breed especially. Though our dear old Jack was a similar breed and the most gentle dog I’ve ever had, I can never remember him being like that.
When Oscar was of the age it was suppose to subside, around 5 months, and it hadn’t stopped, I was ready to give him away. I wanted to love him, but I couldn’t, he was an annoying little s***t. He was getting big and strong as well, and clumsy, no spacial awareness, like a giant wind up toy gone mad, I was knocked over more than once. We have never taken our dogs to obedience training and I was determined to train Oscar myself. I persevered, but it wasn’t until he was around fifteen months old, he finally started to settle down. It was only then I could look back at those months of turmoil and realise he was just trying to show affection, gain attention and look for guidance the only way he knew how. He never chewed shoes or dug holes or ripped clothes from the line, so I often feel guilty about the way I initially felt about him. Maybe I expected him to be just like Jack, which wasn’t right of me, they are exactly like children, all very different, with individual personalities.
He’s now a champion dog, still has his devil moments and he’s a bit of goofball, tries to shirtfront you like an AFL player, or Tony Abbott, for the non footy fan. I hate leaving him of a morning when I go to work, he looks so forlorn. He is staying tonight at a kennel for the first time, he’s now two and a bit, and I feel like I did when taking my girls to their first day of school. I’m sure he will love it, he loves other dogs and all humans. So much so, it makes him a hopeless guard dog, he adores welcoming and smelling all visitors, even the unwelcome ones.
He is surprisingly good with small children too. My two year old grandson visited in December last year, from overseas, and Oscar seemed well aware he had to be extra careful and patient with him, if not with anyone else. Actually Thomas was just starting to say the odd word, by the time he left he could string two words together ‘GIT DOON!’ I didn’t realise we were even saying that to Oscar, but we must have been. Oscar would just stand quietly next to Thomas and get a ‘GIT DOON!’ every time. Oscar is now very well entrenched in our family, and I can’t imagine life without him, love him to bits.”
“My skin has a lot of pigmentation… freckles, rosy cheeks and broken capillaries normally greet me every morning. I’m so used to seeing them now that when I do wear full coverage foundation it’s actually quite a shock. I have thin skin which is very easily damaged by the environment. While SPF is my daily necessity, I’m also one of those over the top people who wear long sleeves and big hats even on the hottest days, generally looking quite silly really.
While I love my whole skin care routine, by far the most change comes from Osmosis MD Rescue. While it’s a pricey product, when I use it I get to watch all that pigmentation come to the surface and then fade away… My skin is clearer, healthier and I have a more even complexion. I stopped using it while I was pregnant due to all the hormonal skin changes – why fight against nature, but now that I’ve started again the difference is drastic!
It’s an epidermal repair serum so it’s actually great for a whole range of issues, check out the bio – it’s the magic juice – you can’t go past this little gem.”
“My favourite product at the moment is most definitely Osmosis MD Immerse. It’s a moisture boosting serum that I add to my moisturiser for extra hydration. It takes my skin from feeling tight, moisture depleted and dehydrated, to soft, supple and plump!
My skin was so dry a few months back that it felt like my serums were sitting on top of my skin. One evening I used Osmosis MD Polish to remove the surface layer of built up dead skin, then applied my serums as normal. I added the Osmosis MD Immerse (double dose) before going to bed and woke up with new skin! I was a bit greasy overnight due to the double dose, but I have continued to apply one pump of the Immerse every morning and evening and my skin has stayed in the same hydrated condition.
Dry skin like mine needs oils, antioxidants and just that extra boost of hydration to ensure it’s looking fresh, so it’s definitely a staple in my regime. I’m too scared to cut it out!”
