While we have a whole bunch of active serums and specialised treatments, often it’s our moisturiser that we’re most loyal to. It’s not unusual for it to be the first skin care item we heavily rely on as we start to age. Unfortunately this can also be our downfall. As we age, it’s important to alter our skin care regime to suit our skin’s changing needs. But what moisturiser is best for our skin? This is the tricky part, because it’s so personal. The smell, feel and effectiveness all need to be ‘just right’. This is where our moisturiser product review comes in.
We’ve given you a head start, by going through our favourite moisturisers. This way you can have a sneak peak at something new. We hope this leads you on a quest to discover what you’re new fav’ might be! Don’t forget, when you find it, add a product review on our website – so others can ‘try before they buy’ also…
Aspect Phytostat 9 Moisturiser Product Review
“I am an absolute moisturiser hoarder. I have all of them and it’s so hard for me to choose which one to review… like, right now I am loving Resveratrol because my skin has the winter dries, but then I am also loving Societe’s Prime and Defend because of the priming aspect. But I guess if I absolutely had to choose, I’d go Aspect Phytostat 9, or Osmosis MD Quench… So hard to choose… OK, Phytostat 9!
The tub. I really like the push down tubs that Aspect use.The things I love about it mostly:
- Feels great. Its lightweight yet nourishing and absorbs easily.
- Smells perfect. Kinda clinical, but fresh.
- Great for oily skin.
- Doubles as an eye cream, correcting to the delicate skin around the eye.
- Contains loads of antioxidants which makes it great for anti-ageing.
You can’t go wrong with this moisturiser. Also a great one for teens!”

Aspect Dr Resveratrol Moisturiser Product Review
“They say that moisture is the spice of life, no, just checked and it’s variety. Well at my age it’s moisture! Maybe it’s variety of moisture that’s my life’s spice. Especially when you’re closing in on 103. (If you read my last review, you’ll know I’m 102) Anyway, gotta have lots of it, moisture that is.
It occurred to me I have been here at The Skin Care Clinic for well over a year now. Yet I have never tried our biggest selling moisturiser, Aspect Dr’s Resveratrol. No way I hear you say, yes way, time to give it a try.
Aspect Dr is our biggest selling moisturiser!
I have been quite addicted to Aspect’s Hydra Shield when it comes to moisturisers. It has that dual aspect, pardon the pun, of UV protection & hydration. I seem to be always drawn to products that include some form of sunblock. Resveratrol doesn’t have UV protection. Because I wear a CC Cream that does though, I’m sure it will be fine. Resveratrol has a beautiful texture, really creamy. I found the aroma unusual and a little off putting though. Apparently, because of the multitude of botanical ingredients involved, and depending on seasonal changes, the smell and colour can vary to some degree from batch to batch. I must have a recent Spring batch now that all is blooming and pungent. It went on with a nice velvety feeling and felt instantly hydrating, without any greasiness and actually seemed to prime my skin too. My pores looked so much more refined than I expected. Actually, I didn’t expect any refinement at all, that never happens with moisturisers. This in turn seemed to make the CC Cream glide on really nicely afterwards. I can certainly overlook the smell when results are so impressive.
So now I understand why it’s our biggest seller. Cheers to you Resveratrol. Thanks for spicing up my life.”

Aspect SMC and Hydra Shield Moisturiser Product Review
“My favourite go-to moisturisers, that I always seem to come back to are Aspect Hydra Shield in the morning and Aspect SMC in the evening. I’m a firm believer in saving time! With this in mind I prefer to use a sun protection in my moisturiser. I find Hydra Shield to be both light weight and hydrating enough to feel comfortable and I don’t feel like I’m wearing sun protection – you know the one. There’s none of that slick and shiny layer on the skin feeling.
I’d class my skin as ‘normal’ with ‘pigmentation’ rather than oily or dry – so I want something that’s smack bang in the middle. If I find I’m using too much moisturiser I use an exfoliating mask – and if I’m feeling extra dry after being in the sun or wind too long I use a hydrating mask to balance my skin.
Unfortunately, I’ve reached the next phase of ageing…
Since having children, I’ve really started to crave wearing a moisturiser in the evening. Rather than wearing my SPF, I use Aspect SMC. I don’t like heavy creams, but I do want that little bit of extra moisture. Also, I want something that’s benefiting my skin, and I love that this is repairing my skins cell walls while I sleep. I find it incredibly soothing on my pigmentation and while I’ve tried other options, this is definitely my fav’. Not too heavy, smells great and quickly absorbs into my skin so I don’t feel sticky going to sleep.”
