Coconut oil, avocado, coffee, turmeric and cucumber are just some home remedies that promise clear, glowing skin when mashed up and applied topically to our face. But do they really work? When I was young and didn’t have access to good skin care, I certainly tried many things from the fridge. Lemon juice on pimples was a favourite!
But for all that they promise, the results are usually not what we would hope. Which is disappointing and often confusing. If Vitamin C is so good for our skin, then why don’t we see any changes when we wash your face in orange juice? If coconut oil is the new moisture packed superfood, then why is our skin still dry when we use it as a moisturiser?
Will home remedies such as avocado and coconut oil help our skin?
Often these ingredients are found in our skin care. So, you would think that by using them straight we would achieve a good result. Many of these products feel amazing applied straight to the top of our skin. The truth is unfortunately, that is where they will stay – sitting on the top. They do not have the ability to penetrate deeper into the dermis. This is where all the repairing happens. So while they may contain loads of beneficial vitamins and minerals, they really just go to waste when applied topically. You are much better off eating them, which will in turn provide a healthy diet that will aid in better skin!
How does our skin get the vitamins that it needs? Can’t I just maintain a healthy diet to achieve clear skin?
A healthy diet is paramount in maintaining overall health, including the health of our skin. By the time our body does what it has to do with the nutrients we consume though, very little make it to our skin. Which is terrible, given that our skin is our largest organ. This is why it is so important to apply active ingredients packed full of vitamins to our skin care regime. The difference between good quality skin care and home remedies is all in the delivery systems.
The delivery system is the difference between active ingredients penetrating deep into the dermis or just sitting on the surface of our skin, doing nothing. Skin care ranges that we stock have been developed by extracting all the very best ingredients from nature. They then put them together with the latest science and encasing the ingredients in liposome technology. As these liposomes share the same properties as our own coated cells, they are accepted by our bodies. They penetrate to where they need to go, deep into the epidermis and dermis.
Almost all skin conditions, such as ageing, occur in the dermis. This is why it is crucial for deep absorption of active ingredients. It is a statistic that 95% of skin care available on the market does not have this technology, meaning that what you may be applying is not really doing anything to repair and treat your skin. Another reason why choosing the right skin care is so important.
Does your skin care have the necessary delivery systems?
So if you’re the kind of person who prefers to go as natural as possible, but wants to see excellent results, you can be assured that the products we stock are as natural as possible. They contain no nasty ingredients and have all the very best active ingredients that nature has to offer. They are combined with the latest scientific advances in skin health that will change your skin for the better. You can also rest assured that none of our products have been or ever will be tested on animals, so the only harm done is to our bank balance!!
