At Home Treatment Product Review

Home Treatment Product Review

We love to have a treatment here in the clinic (who wouldn’t?!), but we realise not everyone is able to have a monthly personalised session with a skin therapist. You would think working in our clinic we’d all be pampered like princesses. Realistically we’re all so busy that often it can be months in-between sessions. So, what do we do when we can’t organise an in-clinic treatment? We make our own! Check out our at home treatment product review to see what we do (and love) ourselves.

There is something quite lovely about taking the time to give yourself a facial, apply a mask or use a treatment product.  For me, I try to do this every Sunday.  Having a set day just means that I remember as it becomes part of my weekly routine.

The advantage of owning my clinic is that I do get to try out most things, and even though I have shelves full of products, there are a few that I keep coming back to on those Sundays when my skin needs a little pick me up.  Here are my favourite products that will benefit most skin types*:

Aspect Dr Lanazyme Micro Peel (*not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding mothers)

An exfoliation is a sure way of giving your skin an instant glow and smoothness, and by using an enzyme based exfoliant, you are not only removing the surface dead skin cells, but also ‘dissolving’ the glue like substance that sticks remaining dead skin cells together.  This means that it goes a little deeper, but much more gently than a typical granular exfoliant, which can cause inflammation in those with sensitive, dry or irritated skin.  Here are some key benefits of the Lanazyme Micro Peel:

  • Antioxidant rich with vitamins A. E and C
  • Malachite Extract to provide hydration, making it a great option for those with irritated skin
  • Brightens dull and lifeless skin with the inclusion of Lanablue, an ingredient derived from blue/green algae that works like a vitamin A to turn cells over faster, resurfacing the skin
  • Removing dead skin cells regularly, once to twice per week, means that your serums will absorb better, and be more effective

After an exfoliation, I like to relax with a sheet mask.  Sheet masks are a great way to infuse the skin with extra hydration and soothe any inflammation.  I alternate between brands, usually the Societe Peptide Mask and the Aspect Hydration Mask.  Both are great, and have a gel-like consistency under the sheet.  Here I will discuss the benefits of the Aspect Hydration Sheet Mask:

Aspect Intense Hydration Sheet Mask contains:

  • Vitamin Complex – A powerhouse blend of vitamins B & E to help nourish skin and illuminate appearance
  • Chamomilla Recutita Extract – A calming botanical that softens and soothes skin
  • Copper PCA – Calms, soothes, and refines skin
  • Foeniculum Vulgare Fruit Powder – (Fennel seed powder) – Rich in Vitamins and minerals that purify skin
  • Fucus Vesiculosus Extract – (Brown Algae Extract). Rich in vitamins, amino acids and antioxidants that hydrate and help combat external free radicals
  • Sodium Hyaluronate – A form of hyaluronic acid that helps smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Trehalose – Binds moisture to hydrate skin

The combination of these two at-home treatments will leave your skin feeling soft, smooth, plump and hydrated as well as your pores looking more refined and clear.  Take some time out of your week to spoil yourself!

Phillipa’s At Home Treatment Product Review

“I’m soooo bad at making time for myself. Between my job, my elderly parents, my kids and the tornedo they create in my house, I’m normally pretty busy. Once my kids are asleep I’m ready to crash on the couch and simply STOP!!! Phew! With this in mind, my home-treatments are pretty sparse. I used to love having a long bath and a pamper session, but with no bath and no downtime, my options are typically quick and almost effortless.

Quick – but still decadent pamper session

My “lazy week” option is using Osmosis Polish (Aspect Fruit Enzyme works the same) or Aspect Illuminating Polish in the shower at least once or twice a week. When I’m not rushed for time or energy I use Aspect Dr Lanazyme Peel. Massaging off your dead skin cells is so satisfying! As my skin can get irritated, I only massage initially and leave on for 5 minutes max, but you can really enjoy this and leave for up to 15 minutes depending on your skin. Just remember to only pump out the SMALLEST amount of your serums and moisturiser after, as you always seem to need so little compared to normal after these treatments. I also have the Medik8 Smooth Body kit, and yes – it’s awesome! Silky smooth skin without the effort.

Now that it’s getting colder I’ve been LOVING the PCA Skin Hyaluronic Acid Overnight Mask to pop over my moisturiser before bed. Add a sheet mask before, and you’re in pampering heaven!!! I’ve also been using the Osmosis Rose Quartz Facial Roller and Gua Sha recently and they feel really lovely to use. It’s taken a few go’s to feel co-ordinated, but now it’s my treat-night favourite, turning my nightly serums into a relaxing treat.

I really, really want to try!!!

This year I want to try the Mesoestetic Stem Cell Restrucuractive. It’s a 5 week course of stem cell boosting goodness – designed for those of us (yes definitely me) who have been lazy with their skincare prior to hitting the ageing process and want to kick-start their skin’s renewal process. Once a week at night, you massage one of the vials into your skin. Alternating with Osmosis Polish (or Aspect Fruit Enzymes) mid-week for exfoliation, so you’re left with soft and strengthened skin. If you wish you could visit a local skin therapist but can’t for one reason or another, this is such a great alternative.

Gifts I LOVE to give…

My favourite treat-night gift is definitely Aspect Luxe Experience Kit and Medik8 Reflection Kit. They’re limited edition, but such great combo’s!!! They’re both beautifully packaged, come with instructions and leave the skin feeling loved.”

“The Osmosis MD Tropical Mango Mask is my ABSOLUTE new fav!!!

If you’re anything like me, and LOVE mango… then the smell of this mask will be enough to get you hooked! I’m warning… 😉

Perfect for someone with dry skin, or post treatment. And feels luxurious to rub into the skin!

My favourite thing to do with the Mango Mask, is to add a little bit of Osmosis MD Immerse in with it. When I do this at home, I could check my face hours later and it still feels/looks AMAZING! Not only does this create an even more desirable smell mixing them, but also makes the mask a little less thick and more moisturising.

Another advantage is, that it doesn’t actually have to be used as a mask. that’s right! You can use this as a moisturiser as well! Which is what I do, and what I would recommend for people with super dry skin! I would DEFINITELY buy this again!”
